The 4 point play made Antonio Davis a Raptor
Those Knicks teams only went as far as John Starks could keep his head in the game. His teammates loved him most nights but some nights he went cuckoo and became his own teams downfall. I remember Pat Riley benching him and Ewing yelling at him alot. When he was focused, they were really good.
Oh, look. Another story about how an offense-obsessed team became good after they started paying attention to hustle and defense.
Pacers aren't gonna see success until they get rid of Carlisle.
The year before Pacers finally won A playoff series that Knick team was the best they had in the 90s.
Xavier McDaniel was no pun intended the X factor in that series.
He was completely unfazed by Michael Jordan and the knicks took that Bulls team to 7 games.
If the knicks didnt inexplicably let Xavier sign with the Celtics that following year they would have for sure beat the Rockets in the finals. That was the best 90s knicks team in my opinion.
That Pacers playoff run came out of nowhere though they did play very well after the all star break that year.
Believe it or not the Hawks were the one seed that year and Pacers beat them pretty handedly after they swept the Shaq and Penny led Orlando team though all 3 games were extremely close.
It might not show analytics wise but free agent signing Byron Scott was A HUGE reason Pacers won those series.
Pacers never got free agents. Players didn't want to be associated with them. Signing Byron I feel elevated Reggie and that entire team mentally.
Just having A 3 time champion in Scott on that roster changed the perception from opposing teams. That and hiring Larry Brown.
Big named coaches make A huge splash in Indiana. Small market Pacers let Larry Brown coach them and lead the way.
I say it all the time in this comment section the game becomes mental at the higher levels.
There has never been A Pacer team on paper that looked like they would be able to compete and make a deep playoff run. Opposing teams on paper always look better. So I'm not too concerned with these pre playoff rankings. The over/under win wise was 22 last year. They had that 41 game a in. 23-18 before Tyrese injury. The team completely collapsed after that.
