Two days after it was reported that the Philadelphia 76ers ended trade talks involving James Harden, the 10-time All-Star guard ripped 76ers president Daryl Morey.
“Daryl Morey is a liar and I will never be a part of an organization that he’s a part of,” Harden said during an Adidas media event in China. “Let me say that again: Daryl Morey is a liar and I will never be a part of an organization that he’s a part of.”
On Saturday, sources told ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski that the 76ers planned to bring Harden back to training camp and for the start of the season, setting up an uncomfortable situation with the unhappy star.

This is all going to end in an investigation by the league. Everyone thought Morey made James a promise last year and every day it looks more and more like that is what happened.
It seems like harden really doesn’t wanna play for the 76rts again….this could be a big issue for him because the 76ers can prevent him from signing another contract ever again if he just decides to sit out.
If he refuses to show up for camp, the only other leverage harden may have is if he threatens to go to the NBA with the information that there was an illegal agreement in place to make him whole after taking a pay cut. Will be fun to see what happens!

Interesting that this is at an event in China, where surely Daryl Morey is universally hated for his Hong Kong tweet. Harden might be getting some real long-term value from making these comments to Chinese media that is worth more than the hit he takes from his next contract. If he already wasn’t going to get a max, then these comments won’t really change that but will certainly make him more popular in China.
