Hopefully he stubbed his toe or something.

    > The Latvian national team will play in its first-ever FIBA World Cup this August. However, they will have to do it without their biggest star.

    > Kristaps Porzingis will not compete in the World Cup for Latvia later this month.

    > The player is suffering from a foot injury and will not be able to fully recover before the international tournament, BasketNews sources indicate.

    > Porzingis did not play in any of the friendly games this summer. The Latvian Basketball Association is expected to announce the news on Wednesday, August 16th.

    > Several days ago, a report came out from German journalist Rupert Fabig that named similar concerns about Porzingis’ World Cup status. The Latvian Association strongly denied the report.

    > With the star center out of the rotation, Davis Bertans will make his debut in a friendly match against Finland on Wednesday, August 16th. The forward has been dealing with a calf injury at the beginning of training camp but will be ready to compete, he revealed in an interview with Sportacentrs.

    > Latvia will play in Group H in the World Cup with Canada, Lebanon, and France.

Going to be dealing with this all season probably (not this injury but the constant worry he’ll have one).

Good. We need him healthy to live up to at least half of what we hope he is.

  5. Rashloose

Nice exactly what i wanted to read. Hopefully nothing serious.

He’s already injured? Hopefully he’s ready for the start of regular season.

I hope this injury is Want-To-Focus-On-The-NBA-itis and not something serious.

Based on the videos posted of him doing shooting drills and not exerting much but not necessarily looking like he was limbering anything, I’m leaning 80-20 towards the former.

As a Latvian fan, I understand his desire to play for the national team. But at the same time I was worried about his physical condition. Would’ve been great if he played but I don’t want to see him play through pain and hobble across the court. No need to risk further injury. Get healthy, KP 🙏🏽

out for the year already, package him and brogdon + 4 FRP and 3 pick swaps for Embiid NOW!!!!!

I have this incredible sinking feeling that we’ll look back at the Porzingis years the exact same way we look back at the Kemba years and the Hayward years. This team needs to stop hitching its wagon to such big injury risks.

Surprise surprise. We traded our starting point guard and the heart and soul of the team for an injury prone guy and he is now injured before playing a single game for us.

I think Tingus Pingus just wants to stay healthy for the NBA (As everybody else is saying). Either way, with the signing for less money and possibly purposely avoiding playing for his own country shows how dedicated he is to helping us and I’m gonna buy his jersey as soon as I can find one on sale

He hasn’t played any basketball and is already injured? I don’t know what I was expecting 🙁

Foot injuries for someone who’s 7’3 scare me. At least we saw him shooting around so it can’t be too serious right now

  15. CertifiedCapArtist

Lmao good and bad news. No chance for more injuries cus he’s already got one.

  16. SadTatter

On one hand I’m glad he’s resting, on the other hand this means the injury is serious enough for him to miss the World Cup.

I posted when this came out… “There goes the season”… And received 90+ down votes…

    Can’t blame the messenger…

  18. No_Advisor_4207

He will be ready for season start 100% he just dont wanna risk it now

  19. TheMartsy

Well the way he wrote the message on twitter, was clear it was not exactly his decision. And as Die hard Latvian Basketball fan, all I can say it. FUCK YOU BOSTON!

What is the point for him anyway, to be in Boston. he will be stuck behind two dominant lesbian guards, each taking 25 shots a game..

  20. chadigada

As a Mavs fan, y’all will get used to reading these words. Good luck next season

  21. 97PunkRawk

We’ll be lucky if he plays 40 games
