I hope it comes true man cause most recent successful short guy in the NBA Isaiah Thomas had to be an insane scorer to make up for what he gives up on defense. He's already a hard worker and I love how enthusiastic he is about Toronto. He seems like he really wants to become great instead of that bet on yourself money things, but there's the window for him to make mistakes is small. He's going to have to compete against Mitchell, Haliburton, Brunson, Fox, Poole, Dejounte, Shai, Trae, Ja, and many more dudes these upcoming years.

I love his ambitious mind, but the thing is, with this fanbase right now, it's the wrong time and place for this type of quote, we just lost fred and the man said a buncha shit that made us feel like he was ours, but money took him. AND then we just lost KLow a couple years ago, ALSO, the fanbase is divided, he gotta win, everywhere he goes, he gotta make the impact, AND MOST of all he gotta love the fanbase and the country as much as those before him, the accomplishments alone, are high, ALOT of people can't love the country and fanbase, like Fred and Kyle did, even Calderon, BUT if you ACTUALLY do that, we gonna be behind the man FULL FORCE… hes the type of player this fanbase and country LOVES and holds close, but he gotta show us first, before we even let him in.

This kind of reminds me when Pascal said in the beginning of last season, "I want to be a top five player in the league". Everybody held Pascal to that standard and made it clear that he wasn't close and would never be a top five player. It just puts a target on your back when you make statements like this in the media. Pascal probably used it to motivate himself because he knew he would work harder and he would be able to withstand the scrutiny.
As Chev pointed out, Markuis Nowell is starting from a difficult spot. The odds are against him. He is a short, undrafted, rookie. Will the coach actually give him playing time? He has about 4-5 players ahead of him that will get a chance to play point guard. And we already know the limitations of a small point guard in the playoffs. Just do a review of the past history with Fred and Kyle. If Markuis becomes one of the top two point guards on the team, that will be a miracle!
