The plan was for Big Country to play in Memphis as the starting center. He came to the Peabody and was duckmaster one day. IIRC he tried to play in preseason games and his back wasn’t cooperating. He never played in a regular season game with the Memphis Grizzlies and ended up retiring due to injury.
The Grizzlies history might be very different if Bryant Reeves and Michael Dickerson had been healthy when the team came to Memphis. Even if they were available as trade assets.
