Top 25 Players in the NBA: Why Nikola Jokic is EASILY the BEST player in the NBA | Hoops Tonight

Jason Timpf finishes off his ranking of the 25 best players in the NBA with No. 1, NBA Champion Nikola Jokic of the Denver Nuggets. Jokic has emerged as the clear cut best player in the NBA after back-to-back MVPs, and then an NBA championship this year after dismantling LeBron James and Anthony Davis in the western conference finals, and then Jimmy Butler and the Miami Heat in the NBA Finals.

  1. Hope u give kobe a deserved top 10 because the disrespect on his name by u pears is incredible. They saying he was a overrated defender. I mean many super stars don't even want to defend and he did it while being the offense for my lakers was incredible.

  2. šŸƒ was the best player in 2022-23 season , no doubts about it! I am a greek freak šŸ¦Œ šŸ€fan

  3. Before the finals this past year it was curry then giannis before that recency bias is alive and well, so if u win the finals that respective year your the unanimously the best player in the world?

  4. Thanks for the respect on Jokić he is Him! Just wait he ainā€™t done I think you know no one can stop him in the league! Nuggets just getting started canā€™t wait for banner night! Game 5 is finally here lol šŸ˜‚!

  5. I'm a Suns fan AND JOKER IS DEFINITELY CLEARLY THE BEST PLAYER IN THE NBA. Should he have won the MVP could be I wouldn't disagree with anybody.

But him being 3 times MVP NOOOOOOO LOL

  6. This dude explains the most technical shit in ways that even a filthy casual like me can understand. Nerdsesh dope too. Volume is crushing

  7. Ranking players right now is really tough, there are so many great talented players itā€™s insaneā€¦ that said, if your top 3 isnā€™t Jokic, Steph and Giannis, with Jokic being the undisputed nĀ°1 (Steph and Giannis both have an argument for 2nd), youā€™re simply wrong. From 4 to 10 shit gets harder šŸ˜‚. Great list, great videos!

  8. Thereā€™s never a rule that says you have to have a top 10 defense to win the championship. Your offense can be so good that your average defense does not matter. The converse is also true that a defense can be so good that you can win without an above average offense. At the end of the day winning is about scoring more than you give up. There is no intrinsic value in having a ā€˜balancedā€™ offense and defense. By the same token thereā€™s nothing intrinsically special about being an elite two way player. All that matters is your ā€˜netā€™ offense-defense value is high enough to win and that is what Jokic is, an outrageously good offensive player, so good that heā€™s simply a lot better than most elite two way guys. 70% TS% as a #1 on high volume. Before this season I did not think that is humanly possible, and scoring is only his secondary skill on offense.

  9. stop trying to sell me that Jokic is #1, I don't buy into that. The only argument you have is he had a longer stretch of a consistent level of plays than Curry. Which was mostly due to Poole and Klay's bad performances, and Wiggins barely playing like himself from the championship year. (Due to missing the last 25 games). You even said it yourself, you admitted to being wrong last year about Curry and now you say you were wrong about Jokic? Clearly you're justifying your argument from stats and not the actual performance. Also, you keep saying they're the only two players that are unstoppable, have you even watched D'Fox? If it weren't for Curry in Round 1, you give the Kings a little more momentum going further into the playoffs, I wouldn't be surprised they win it all last year. Lastly, you say Jokic pnr are spotless, but you also say the Warriors has the best offensive system. You wanna know why? Because Curry not only gets himself open, he sets screens for his shooters when Draymond is waiting for the open pass. Lastly, you say the Nuggets defense was not hurt by Jokic, but at the same time KD and D. Book almost cooked them as a duo. The truth is, we didn't see them play against an elite offensive program team the entire playoffs such as Warriors, Kings or Boston.

  10. Jok the Godddddddd!!! Bro really went from being a throwaway random 2nd rd pick to verified All Timer/Champion. Truly the 303's finest (sorry Super Joe). I lowkey wish he was more of a chirper so that he'd eviscerate his detractors even more, but I couldn't possibly ask him to do any more than he has already done.

    Incomparable. Unprecedented. Inevitable. ALL HAIL.

  11. This title is ridiculous. History will make you look like a fool thinking there is this huge gap between Giannis and Jokic. You just donā€™t get ball Jason. Simple. I donā€™t know what you are seeing

  12. Your point about unfamiliar defensive situations for positions is apt for Jamal Murray as well, he posts up quite a lot for a guard as well and does a good job of it

  13. I don't like the way you evaluate rankings highly based on champions legacy, but love the way you thoroughly emphasis each players. Great worksšŸ‘šŸ‘

  14. Finally Joker where he belongs. Thumbs up for Jason, kinda knew he would see the light after watching him for more games. With time Joker grows upon everyone.

Once in a lifetime type player.

  15. Jason, are you sure you don't want to put Tatum ahead of Jokic last year? šŸ¤£šŸ¤£

  16. Great to see a former hater beeing converted, great episode

  17. This man was robbed of a MVP. What a way to start the new award system. If you have to campaign so hard for an award you don't deserve it. Jokic just played and should have got it. Other people probably deserved three in a row first, but I thought the league was starting fresh.

  18. In my opinion what makes Jokic that guy are all the little things. Things other players kind of donā€™t really care to do that stack on top one another making this dominate mountain of dependability. Like Jason said the screens are huge but other little things such as Jokicā€™s basketball IQ that give him advantages which amount to be huge over the long haul. Another example is his decision making and his passing. There are just so many elements of his game he does so well it makes defending him nearly impossible because of how many areas heā€™s become a master in you then have to be a master in defending all those areas to even have a chance which is seemingly impossible at this point in time.

  19. Question, so if the Heat won the finals would Jimmy Butler be the best player in the world? Cause even if they won I wouldnā€™t say heā€™s the best player.

  20. Weird y'all were down on Jokic until now, but at least you came around unlike Perk

  21. I usually love this show but he literally spent half the show talking about Curry, not Jokic. Pretty disappointing

  22. How can we help you get past the 'ring thing' in evaluating players? You seem open to experience so I'm hopeful. Pro hoops a team game and not tennis. Nobody gets chips without an excellent team. Jerry West (no chip till 72) and Michael Jordan (didn't win a chip till 91) were at least as magnificent against the odds in defeat as they were in chip victory. Before either of them won it all fair evaluators had them at the very top of the league. But I'm guessing you would have ranked late 80's Jordan as 7th or 8th because he had no ring. Magnificence against the odds is huge not just in sports but in life and history. Devaluing Jokic when he was magnificent v the odds is on you as an evaluator. He didn't suddenly become great in June.

  23. You can win a championship with someone who appears to be slow, but who really isn't, and who rigidly dictates the pace of the game. I've seen it with my own eyes.

  24. How do Jokic fans still find something to whine about on a "Jokic is number 1 in the league" video? Like my gosh be more like your favorite player and just enjoy basketball
