[DiGiovanni] Tyrese Maxey discussed the Sixers-James Harden situation on his podcast. Called him a good friend & mentor and said that James is “doing something for a reason and you just have to sit back and understand what he’s doing as a friend and a teammate.”

    > Maxey: “I’m preparing right now to play with him or without him…And there’s no love lost. I love James to death. If he decided he was gonna come back and play with us, I think there’s nobody in this organization that would be upset about that.”

    > Maxey said people ask him if Harden not returning would make this season a wash. His reply is that the Sixers can’t adopt that view and that they just have to raise their games.

“We have talent. We have the reigning MVP on our team. We have to go out there and expect to win.”

hard not to love him. excited to see what leap he may take this year

Maxeys been thru this situation before and that was before he broke out, imagine what he’ll do now

Maxey is the only thing keeping me sane through all of this

  5. He’s neither trashing Harden nor openly taking his side and antagonizing the organization. This is the right move, and what I’d expect from a guy who’s mature beyond his years like Maxey.

Yeah Hardens “reason” is he wants a franchise to be stupid and pay him $40 million a year for 5 years. Fuck that.

Maxey is more mature than Harden.

Exactly what you would want someone to say to not damage the team dynamics if he does come back and just how you’d describe a situation with a friend arguing with your boss. Very well done.

Good on him, and a good thing that if this does result in harden being back, that the team will welcome him with open arms
