History of Houston Basketball – The Twin Towers 306

The Houston Rockets enter the 1986-87 NBA season with big expectations after their surprise trip to last years Championship series. The final part of The Twin Towers focuses on the young teams journey through 1987 and the rest of the decade, chronicling the pressures, successes and failures that came along the way. Ralph Sampson struggles with injury continue, Hakeem Olajuwon emerges as the best big man on the league and Robert Reid’s playing days draw to a close.

I really wanted to put in more of the Legends All Star Game from ’89 but was committed to the montage. Mike Newlin played great and Murphy clearly still had the most left in the tank, knocking down loads of 3’s including the game winning buzzer beater. The full game’s on YouTube, go check it out!

The previous part (Towers 305) is blocked in US/Canada, haven’t been able to edit it down enough for it to make sense and am just hoping most people use VPN and that works?

This will be the last episode for a little while, got to research and edit a load of stuff for the next 4 episodes.
