In addition to what they were mentioning about margin of victory having the potential to matter through tie-breakers in the tournament, but another aspect is that in FIBA rankings, there are margin-of-victory thresholds that give you more points in the FIBA standings (which determine things like seeding in future tournaments). Beating a #4-in-the-world team by 20+ points in the World Cup is going to be the biggest FIBA-points game in the history of this program.
