The Knicks MUST ADD Him…

We are nearing the end of this offseason and yet the Knicks still have roster needs heading into the regular season, especially at the backup power forward position. After trading away Obi Toppin for two future 2nd round picks, the Knicks in the process, created a void at the back-up four position that they have yet to fill. But thanks to a recent player release from a Western Conference team, the Knicks may have another chance to fill the gap on their roster while also adding a player with tremendous upside. Troy Mahabir breaks all of this down!

  1. Won't happen, he is already linked to Minny and Cleveland. Trading Obi was a HUGE mistake!

  2. He would be a perfect fit to replace Obie, if the Knicks can add him. At 21 years of age, he makes more sense than Roby or Knight. The thing that I like is that he's a really good rebounder and defender. My guess is that the Knicks may have some competition for him though.

  3. I believe Sims will be the back up 4.
Last yr when Obi was out Sims played the back up 4 not the 5. Isaiah played the back up 5
I don't think they're worried about that spot like everyone else is

  4. He can rebound and stretch the floor. I agree it would make perfect sense to sign him. Only 21 with lots of upside.

  5. usman garuba is stiff and is not a good defender. He is a good rebounder and shop blocker. Last year, he shot 40% from 3s. He is not the answer. The Knicks a back up like a young Taj Givson.

  6. I like the idea of picking him up. Even if the knicks pick him up, he will sit. Remember who the coach is. RJ already plays those spot minutes. RJ comes out first, Quick comes in. Then after a few minutes rest, RJ comes back in with the rest of the backups….he is the backup PF. Chenzo is the back up 3. RJ is strong and holds his own defending 4s. Thibs likes to play a lineup about 3 months before he makes a change unless forced due to injury or politics. Remember they picked up Chenzo and he is paid..he will play and needs minutes. He gets all of OBI's minutes. So if he gets picked up, I doubt he plays. Randle sits when he wants to sit, thibs does not pull him off the floor unless he wants a rest.

  7. We need a young power forward that they can develop, we don't want Randle feeling like he has to look over his shoulder

  8. All this B.S ?! They need a Good Double Double CENTER ! Stop eluding the problem like the Yankees need F'ing PITCHING ! GEEZ ?!

  9. Sorry, Thibs won’t play him anyway, 21 years old not good enough for Thibs, need a power forward in the 35 to 40 years old for Thibs not to bury on the bench

  10. That's crazy because when I saw thunder release usman garuba that's exactly what I said Knicks should pick him up but not only him I also want ty ty Washington also though

  11. We need a veteran in that position. We don't need more young guys. Thibs won't trust any young players in their first year on this team. Vet that can give you 18 minutes of high basketball IQ and defense.

  12. I think you could put Sims at 4 for some minutes . But I think your right I’d give the kid a chance .

  13. Ah….. So I'm the only one that looked at the game footage of Usman I suppose. We lose Obi Topping and the 9 minute consolation is an out of shape 21 year old that was recently released, a guy who's nailed to the floor and doesn't look like he knows where he should be at any given time during the game.

Yeah, I guess I gotta explain the general idea of "fixing" a problem. It usually, USUALLY, doesn't involve getting the Bizzaro World version of a talented player. But who knows.

  14. this is why we should have got KP there's plenty of great PFs we could chase we got picks n trade bait on the roster so should we settle & do this or put something together and get a star ???

  15. Man we don't neeeed that. I like knight. Plus we still have Simms who can play pf also

  16. Yall might as well stop all this precomplaining. It don't matter what you say you already know if Randle is out and Hartenstein playing center…Thibbs playing RJ or Hart at 4.

Might see Sims at spots at 4 but crunch time and if Mitch is hurt too…no yeah Thibbs is going to Thibbs.
