Paolo doing what he did all season long

  2. AuspiciousOtter24

I need a Haliburton and Reaves backcourt

  3. OnlyMamaKnows

Banchero was incredible. Reaves was great. Starting group was pretty blah.

Ant looked drunk in the first half. I entirely blame Anthony Edwards circle jerk day two days ago on r/NBA. This is scientific.

  4. A slow start, but eventually the squad managed to get going!

    Very nice to see!

  5. TheHoovyPrince

No wonder Italy had their jimmies rustled, Banchero’s pretty damn good.

  6. Bballopinion

Reaves is going to average 20 next year

  7. thewrongnotes

I had no idea that Paolo HATES New Zealand that much. Even more than he hates Italy.

  8. dkong86

Kerr really boxed himself in by establishing that starting lineup so soon and getting thrown off by early success in the exhibition games that we could just out talent. Since the Spain game it has been ROUGH.

Remember u/SincereFan ‘s prophecy. Paolo is the truth, he is the future

  10. ProbablyAManChild

Can’t believe Italy traded Banchero for scraps

  11. x_sangre_fria_x

The cameramen’s obsession with Tyrese’s girlfriend was really cringe.

Ngl I’m really enjoying seeing all these talented young players on one team. So much talent all playing together is just a lot of fun.

Kiwi here. Knew the floodgates would open but I’m happy the team showed fight. Badly want a healthy and committed Adams on the team but not to be. I don’t think we shamed ourselves despite the margin.

Reaves, Brunson, and Halliburton all had pretty nice games today. Very good group of guards for this team

  15. Mahomeboy001

Bro one of Reaves or Hali needs to be starting over Brunson. They are our two best playmakers, and the offense is way more fluid when they’re in.

  16. dreamvomit

My boy Josh Hart with the game high +28 in 15 min.. the glue

  17. LoneWolf1123

Watched the game in person and it felt like the crowd was witnessing the second coming of Jesus every time Reaves got the ball

  18. mainvolume

Paolo Banchero is FIBA basketball father

  19. Petit_Coeur_

Haliburton came in and the offense got so much better. Him and Reaves should be starting over Brunson and BI imo

  20. Carcrusher3

The Italians ain’t gonna like this

  21. The US can afford a “small ball” lineup with Banchero without giving up size.

I know it doesn’t make sense because it’s a cheat code.

  22. 7cheeseburgers

BI looks lost. Completely different player than when plays NBA.

  23. Doncicfuturegoat

I know this is just one game but I’ll forever say that Trae Young is probably on par with Brunson, and he is a better passer and playmaker than him.

The ” Brunson and Hali ” are better for fiba basketball rubbed me wrong because, you never see Trae played in so much talented team. I don’t think the other two shouldn’t be on a team but my boy deserve to be there.

And I will finish by saying Trae will be best player on this USA team.

  24. STRAGE_8

Man i wish Banchero played for Italy 😭

PAOLO” Bad to the Bone” Banchero is completely unstoppable. 21 Points in his World Cup debut as the youngest player on the court, and he stuffed the sheet downboard. The guy was completely a game changer. I honestly dont think the World is ready for a force like Paolo, he is going to change basketball, his versatility and physical dominance is going to make the USA continue to be gold medal contenders for years to come. The Former Italian now American Stallion is making a difference. Paolo has announced his name to the world stage and we are in for many years of basketball greatness.

Offensively Paolo is the biggest guy on the court, and its pretty much impossible to stop him. He is too fast and shifty for bigs and too strong and physical for smalls. Paolo is an instant mismatch, and he knows how to use his gravity to perfection to get his team advantages and easy points as soon as he is involved on the offensive end. Paolo is also a field general, he was leading many plays and telling his teammates where to go and when to do it, he was setting the pace and controlling the game with a presence like a veteran. He effortlessly dominated the paint, had some jaw dropping dunks/posters, and if he cant get the dunk off he is fouled because thats the only way to stop him. But its not only the paint Paolo dominated he was shooting lights out from mid, looking like a mid range assassin, so many times using a simple hesi/counter to make space and get splash the mid range shot, and he even showed 3pt range this game with many hard tough shots from 3 including a stepback with the defense smothering him. Paolo is a true #1 option, he is just a very hard guard for opponents, and is an instant positive mismatch for his team and a focal point that allows him USA to gain advantages. Pair all of those offensive skills and athleticism with the fact that Paolo is also a very smart basketball player. Paolo is always in the right spot and making intelligent reads and passing to the right players at all times. He had one wild pass this game but even that was the best pass, he has shown 3 level offense this game and elite playmaking and facilitating.

Defensively, Paolo was somehow even better. Paolo on the defensive end is the best defender on this team. Nothing can convince me otherwise, he has completely shown elite defensive tools and intelligence during this entire WC run. Paolo had so many defensive highlights that I truly believe will end up being part of these WC highlights for years to come, some of those blocks were so splendid and loud that I truly think they will be played for years to come as some of the best WC defensive stops in this decade. Paolo was locking 2v1 and 3v1 fastbreaks, holding multiple zones, switching on guards and bigs alike and being a nuisance and hawk, and always had active hands ready to poke the ball out from loose handlers. Paolo shown full switchablity and versatility. There was nothing the NZ team could do if Paolo was on the court on the defensive end, he was closing out hard for perimeter players, holding driving lanes, and being an elite rim protector. All of this while mostly avoiding fouls that lead to FTs, he wasn’t getting picked on at all, and wasn’t a target for the other team like JJjr was at points this game. Paolo was actually a deterrent that caused lots of mischief for the NZ team. I truly think Paolo blossomed in this WC run as a standout defender, he has shown that he can be a true ace defender and defensive anchor, and the excuse of weaker competition is hard to use considering JJjr, Porter, Kessler (he rarely had mins though), Bridges, etc.. all haven’t shown the dominance Paolo has on the defensive end and they are notable defenders in the NBA. Paolo absolutely looks like the more polished and impactful defender over all of them, and he has shown proven success over them.

Paolo left a statement this game, he showed that he was the guy, the true first option and a true core focal piece. Paolo is next up and he should be starting, he fits perfectly with the system on the starting lineup, and is ready to be an Olympian by next season. The MVP he was given at the end was clearly deserved, he didn’t just score, he dominated on all end of the court and was a strong playmaker that made sure to get his team involved and to make sure his pressure was used to the advantage and benefit of the team. Paolo wasn’t just playing; he was locked in and serious. He was orchestrating a symphony of skill, strength, versatility, and strategy. The guy was a maestro out there, he was running the show, had the baton and was putting out on a performance that lets the world remember his name. Grant Hill is feasting today, While the Italians are griefing.

  26. BobLoblawh

Whydo we have ZERO highlights in this sub, for the world cup games?

  27. ipo4more

Brunson getting exposed – just like every single short PG in the history of basketball

  28. vongoladecimo_

Austin Reaves being cheered every time he got the ball lmao goat

  29. u-and-whose-army

Paolo’s stats in 18 minutes were impressive. He deserves more play on this team. Can basically play 3-5 for USA.

  30. I don’t know how, I know it’s probably impossible…. But I want Hali and Reaves on the same nba team, such as the Lakers I think they’d be great on that team together

  31. Confused_n_tired

I was there at the match.. didn’t know Filipino community loved Austin.. why? someone will have to tell me…

  32. You mean behind Austin Reave’s performance. I’ll credit him for stabilizing the ship in the first half, made some big plays.
