First time they’ve ever beaten a European squad, and it’s a huge win as far as potential Olympic qualification
The top Asian team at the World Cup automatically qualifies for the 2024 Olympics. If Japan somehow upsets Australia, that would all but clinch it (I don’t see any other Asian teams advancing to the second group stage), but even with a loss, this win is huge for eventual tiebreaker situations.
Japan got the hardest draw of any Asian team (the hardest overall group, imo), and this win goes a long way to helping them out.

tbh I respect any team in any sport who shows their emotions on their sleeves like this.
“Just another day at work” is boring, I wanna see the people who would give anything for that win to get it.

Yuta š„¹ playing thru injury. I think he said that if they don’t win/get a win then he’ll retire from Team Japan. An example of Japanese humilityāstepping down if they believe they did poorly. Nets Legend always š¤š¤

I think this US team has a lot of pride this year but it’s awesome to see how seriously other countries take it. Stuff like this is the best part about sports.

Way to go Japan! Finland really crumbled in the end. They did not finnish strong.

Japan home crowds go nuts!

Japanese sports is in an insane place right now. Ohtani is the obvious one, but you have Senga who is the real deal right now, and I’ve heard a few other names coming up from Japan in the next few years just in baseball. Then you have this team and Tominaga Keisei, Rui, list goes on.
