If we can somehow swing a trade for OG I think we can run the best starting 5 in the NBA.
Ja/Bane/Smart/OG/JJJ would be stupid defensively and offensively you still have elite offense at every level.
Ja has an underrated amount of help tbh. I wouldn’t be surprised if the grizzlies are still a top 5 seed in his absence
Marcus Smart is for sure an upgrade from Dillon Brooks, I think the loss comes from Tyus Jones. He was so solid for them in Ja’s absence taking care of the ball and making solid plays. Losing him is going to be tough for them.
Idk I don’t really like running smart/bane at the 3.
Ja’s steps to rehabilitate:
1) Add Marcus Smart to all activities with friends.

Memphis going to be so fun to watch this year, but my main concern is once Ja return how is that closing lineup going to be. Ja/Smart/JJJ/Adams is a nightmare spacing wise.

I agree. I think the Grizzlies got better with Smart and with some experience under their belt. I also think Smart can smack Ja upside the head to stop being such an idiot

Memphis isn’t better than Boston, so if Smart wasn’t enough for Boston he’s not enough for Memphis
Pinson knows, he’s had the best seats to a lot of NBA games.
Smart I think will have the biggest impact on Bane. Bane has that dog in him, too, and has shown Jaren-like ability to improve every year at something. If Bane can improve from being solid/serviceable defensively to another level, while maintaining or improving his shot and playmaking, the Grizz can take another step forward in the playoffs. Clarke out for likely the season is a big loss, and Adams is a question mark how he returns as a big man whose injury last year was a mystery and confounding to the fans in terms of length of his absence. But having Jaren develop experience as t center with the national team hopefully helps ease the pressure off of Adams having to be everything he was the past few seasons.
Smart with JJJ improves the defense, Kenard having a full year on the team should help 3 point shooting with Bane. I don’t think they finish top 2 record wise in the regular season, and losing Ja will hurt, but the absence could help the rest of the team deliver more in the playoffs than in years past.
I’m predicting Boston won’t suffer at all with the departure of Smart. They’d improve without Smart. Memphis will also do well because they already have a balanced team without Smart, but Smart will come in and take all the credit for anything good that happens. He’s way overrated.
He has mileage though and think thats why Boston shipped him. An undersized sg who specializes in def. Maybe 1-2 years left of vintage production imo.

I just don’t see how they can win without any SFs? That lineup is really small and does not shoot very feel for 3. A perfect fit would be OG Anunoby.

Then if you want to go small just sub in smart and move OG to the 4 and JJJ to the 5.
I feel like if they are healthy that team wouldn’t have a problem with anyone in the playoffs.

I think Dillon Brooks ability to switch 1-4 will be missed in Memphis.
I also think Ja gets away with being a horrible defender. Smart has for the most part played with solid defenders in Boston.
I love Smart though, I wouldn’t say it’s a huge upgrade. I think they broke even.
