[Eric Nehm] Per a league source, the Bucks have signed and waived Alex Antetokounmpo. They did this with him last offseason as well. It allows the Bucks to retain his G-League rights and makes Antetokounmpo eligible for a bonus worth up to $75K if he spends at least 60 days with the Herd.

Looking forward to next year’s “The Milwaukee Bucks have signed Alex Antetokounmpo” post, should be the spiciest one yet!

Thanasis averaged 14ppg in his 2nd year of G League and Alex averaged 5ppg in his second year. Gross

I guess the articles about Giannis signing with another team will die down again now that this family business has been taken care of.

  7. Giannis: I want a winning team.
Horst: Best we can do is sign your whole family

At this point they’re just doing this to make Giannis happy. Alex Antetoukunmpo is not NBA Quality player. Heck, reading from the comments here, he isn’t even Euroleague quality player.

Just cut your bro a check for $75k and we can avoid this whole charade.

I’ll say Bucks are doing a lot of little things to try and keep Giannis. Even if it doesn’t work out, can’t say they didn’t try. It would be nice to try and put another young star with Giannis, but they just don’t have the assets.

At what point does this become max contract circumvention? What’s to stop a team for the next really good player to just give his nephew the 15th roster spot on a min deal? I don’t blame the Bucks at all for doing it, but it’s weird right?

Giannis keeping his entire family employed.
