It’s absolutely hilarious how everyone, all the sudden, is complaining about how Dame is requesting a trade while he’s still under the contract, as if that hasn’t been happening with every superstar under the new CBA. The days of big name free agents has been over for a while now, probably since 2019. Every sane superstar would first sign a contract with their original team since it gives them the most money possible, and then request a trade afterwards if it doesn’t work out.
Besides, if Dame just walked out in free agency for nothing, he would’ve been hated regardless AND his move wouldn’t have gotten Portland anything (not even the Miami ‘garbage’ FRPs). Bron was a Free Agent when he moved to Miami in 2010, people hated him for it. KD was a FA when he moved to GSW in 2016, people hated him for it. Fuckers are gonna hate no matter what.
