Not like teams won’t just make up injuries or guys won’t just sit for chafed fingernails on their shooting hand now, but it does probably end up affecting the team and us as fans.
* Whatever small effect it has in meaning more stars play against the Wizards, that means more losses. We won’t be like, beating the Bucks with them just sending out Jrue against us.
* With more stars playing, the games will be a bit more of a draw for us fans.
* But that means more fans for opposing teams showing up at Capital One Arena and even more of an “away game at home” feeling.
Well-intentioned but I don’t like it. Teams should be allowed to play who they want and assume the risks (of injury or losing more games). Load management also creates opportunities for younger players to break out. Nobody is forcing fans to buy tickets or watch on TV (again, a risk responsible adults who run NBA teams should be allowed to take).
And like other people have said, teams will still find ways around this to protect their stars.
Thankfully this will have no bearing on the Wizards, who do not have any “star” players according to the classification system.
