Also, the counterparty that does the trade knows they have to make the optics clear on what they’re doing and that it is not the transaction it seems on the surface nor do they support the player they’re certainly going to waive.

Expiring contract and a pick. The guy is either a 1 year cap hit, or the league basically cut him.

I don’t think people understand what we’re doing right now. We aren’t trying to give somebody a pick to take KPJ off our hands. We’re trying to trade a pick(s) for a rotational piece and using KPJ’s salary to match contract. He’s getting cut/having his contract nullified by the league regardless. We’re just using the intrinsic value of the contract before that happens.
