  1. I have to disagree on one aspect. Russell Westbrook is not a role player; he is still a superstar by default. A role player is somebody who comes off the bench and excels at a specific skill. Zubac is a defensive anchor who rebounds from the rim, Mann is an energizer bunny who uplifts the Clippers when their morale is weak or down in the dumps, Powell is their designated scorer a la Jamal Crawford. Westbrook is an assist man, a rebounder, and a cutter; a triple double machine, the very thing that got him the nine All-Star nods and MVP. Just because he's years removed from that doesn't mean he is reduced to a role player. Clippers still see him as a superstar, and rightfully so – I wouldn't be surprised if he made an All-Star Game with them this year.

The problem with Clippers has been trying to turn role players into something they're not. That can be blamed by necessity due to their losing history. Under Donald Sterling, the only players Clippers could get were role players, specialists and rookies, often times at cellar-dwelling levels. Clippers have shown to be really good with Sixth Man players: too good to be role players, not good enough to be All-Stars – they actually lead the league in Sixth Man awards won with five (Crawford x2, Williams x2, Harrell). There's some semblance of an identity crisis, on one half the franchise trying to go with power by way of a Big 3 (or Fantastic 4 should they pull off the James Harden trade), the other trying to win without All-Stars as evidenced by their surprise playoff visit in 2019 as Revenge Of The Role Players. Often times they are blinded by role players so much that they see them as saviors – consider Terance Mann and his 39-point playoff career high that not only got them to the conference finals (finally), he single-handedly save the franchise from a forced rebuild had Clippers lost to the Jazz in 2021.

I don't know if Clippers have right role players, but they do have an issue with letting personal emotions get in the way of business.

  2. The biggest issue is Lawrence Frank he’s the guy that’s in charge of building this roster and he just doesn’t do things right at all
