Dallas Mavericks training camp begins a week from tomorrow as Luka Doncic and the Mavs prepare for the 2023-24 NBA season! Luka injury rumors from the 2023 FIBA World Cup have continued to circulate, with Luka still dealing with the thigh injury that plagued him at the end of last season. Alongside Kyrie Irving and with the addition of Grant Williams in 2023 NBA Free Agency, Mavs head coach Jason Kidd will be able to manage Doncic’s workload going forward. In other Luka Doncic news, if Luka makes the 2023-24 All-NBA team, he will be eligible for a supermax contract extension worth up to $367 million.

If he earns All-NBA in 2023-24, Doncic would then become eligible to sign a five-year projected $318 million supermax extension. He is not allowed to sign the extension in 2024 because he will have only six years of service but he will have met the criteria (All-NBA in two of the immediately preceding three seasons) and will be able to sign an extension in 2025. If the salary cap increases 10% over the next three years, the Doncic extension would be $367.5 million. The last year of the contract would be $83.6 million.

How the hell did the owners and players decide they were gonna screw their cap space up and allow the 1%ters of the NBA to get even a bigger share of the pie.

We have to have Luka, but we can't be paying 63 million a year to one player. All those teams that had 3 superstars couldn't do it, because you have to have a Team and not a bunch of bums around them. NBA has lost their damn minds.

At some point these professionals have to think of the serious fan and how to run org's seriously. And not just the casual fan with the casual GF who only knows one players name and wants his jersey. It's all about putting yourself in position to win it all. It's not a Ms. America Padgett.
