I’m not sure what his exact value is, but we have a huge gap in shot creation and the Pacers could use one of our many wings.
Buddy is a terrible defender, but with Ben, Mikal and Clax on the floor we can hide him to an extent.
Unless we’re already stuck in the dame vortex for tyler herro, buddy seems like a good option.

not wasting a pick and dfs on an expiring
I wouldn’t hate it if we kept the pick. DFS is redundant given how many wings we have and Hield gives us much needed shooting and shot creation.
That said, we need to be smart about our assets and flexibility for when the next big star is available.
I don’t like the idea of giving up DFS who’s on a great contract and a FRP for an expiring Hield.
No.
Also, we’re currently just 8 mil below the luxury tax threshold, which we categorically cannot go over for this year and the next. Taking on an additional 5 million in Hield’s salary would make it harder for us to do any moves this season and also to re-sign Claxton at the end of this season.
Not a bad idea
No we need an actual star in order to compete, buddy Hield doesn’t even remotely move the needle
As a Pacers a fan this is actually a decent trade for both sides
Why? This league has always been Championship or bust.
Sure the Nets is in a unique situation because we don’t have our own picks and can’t tank. But still, giving up assets for a 30-year-old expiring role player isn’t the right move for a rebuilding team.
Buddy Hield doesn’t make this a Championship team. Just hold on to DFS. Near the trade deadline some contender might get desperate and offer a FRP or multiple SRP for DFS. Take that and build up the war chest for when we’re actually ready to contend.
I wouldn’t give up the Phoenix 2027 1st rounder for someone like Buddy Hield. That could be a good lottery pick.
No we do not need another wing. We need bigs and ballhandlers. This is a lateral move and we give up a pick. Maybe one of the most pointless transactions you can think of.
This does very little for Brooklyn. Definitely not giving up that 1st…maybe just straight up for DFS but I’d rather get an asset that isn’t expiring for DFS.
Nah this ain’t it. Gotta HODL until a real whale appears.
We’re already deep enough at the wing position with Mikal, Cam Thomas, Lonnie, and Royce, it doesn’t really make sense to me.
We need a point guard that doesn’t play hero ball
I’m confident that the team would keep trying being the 6/7th seed of the East and tank with craziness when we get our own picks.
we got to have the dumbest fans in the NBA lol
Perma Ban. Please.
Absolutely awful. Doesn’t even begin to make sense. DFS’s main value to this team is the potential for getting a FRP back for him from a contender, and in this trade we’re adding a FRP **on top** of DFS for…Buddy Held? A soon to be 31 year old poor defender on the last year of his contract. What?
If IND doesn’t have room for him because they have younger players they want to slot in, then they are likely looking for “cap relief” and a future asset(s). They can take on more money, for an expiring contract that they could just waive or buyout.
Terrible trade. Really giving up a 1st for an expiring? If we were 1 piece away from a contending team then maybe I can c the logic.
This trade reduces our assets and gets us no closer to a ring.
Waste. Dfs is going to be good enough that teams will be desperate for him at the deadline. Hield would be ok, but ultimately dead weight as an asset
Lol, the 27 phoenix pick is worth much more than buddy hield.
