The one thing that hasn’t been brought up about this trade possibility is if you want to keep Pascal/OG long term, you’re going to be a tax team anyways. Doesn’t mean you have to trade for Dame, but to upgrade with those players, it’ll be pricy regardless.

Not sure what the obsession with dame to the raptors is all about. Why would we be so desperate for a win now move 🤷♂️

This is only true if you are thinking of trading someone like OG and keeping Barnes. The Raptors do not have enough ready now talent to compete with Lillard if they get rid of Anunoby because he is literally their “do everything except handle the ball and cover everyone guy” and Barnes is their this guy could be really damn good on the future but right now he comes with weaknesses and growing pains guy”. So in that sense it’s true.
If instead you are dealing the unknown potential in Barnes to complement a core of Siakam/Anunoby/Poeltl that are in their prime, with Lillard, it’s wrong. Whether you are willing to take that gamble on what Barnes becomes is up to the individual but aligning the remaining talent with the end of Lillard peak makes some sense.

The trade only makes sense if we’re keeping OG and Pascal and shipping Barnes out

Then trade Siakam and go young, either way pick a direction. I still like Dame over what we’re currently doing, which is nothing.

It’s always the right time to trade for a stud like Lillard who averaged 34 and 10 last playoffs.

The idea never made much sense

The notion that Dame Lillard, OG, Siakam, Poeltl can’t be a highly competitive if not championship level team IN THE EAST is wild to me. Milwaukee has had injury and consistency issues in the play offs. Philly has melted down every year. The Celtics just shipped out their point guard and longest tenured Celtic. Miami lost two notable pieces of their play off run, and while there is reason to believe they’ll be able to replace them it isn’t a guarantee.
There are holes all over the east, and a Damian Lillard addresses a big part of the Raptor’s issues. We would then just need to figure out a solid 6man scorer and be fine, because the raptors have been good when the starters are in and the worst in the league when the starters aren’t d
