[Rumsey] “ESPN will reportedly close its New York studio that currently houses shows like ‘First Take.’ The network has reportedly decided to close its Seaport studios in New York by 2025 and will likely do the same for its Los Angeles studios that reside in the same complex as Crypto.com Arena.”

But then WHERE will the Dame trade content come from?

  2. Next-Firefighter-753

God I fucking hate the name “Crypto.com Arena”

  3. jusbolo2

Maybe they’re stripping it down to sell to Apple.

  4. gbrim21

ESPN finally realizing their sports commentary shows are ass.

  5. RobbobertoBuii

So in short, they think they’re gonna lose to NBC/Amazon/Apple for the NBA broadcasting rights next year? 👀

  6. helloitsmeimherenow

Where am I going to be able to find Kendrick Perkins takes, SAS yelling, and watch non stop commercials during NBA halftime shows?

  7. ArcanuMELO

    No…please….don’t shut down….stop…

  8. FrnklndaTurtle

As long as they keep Kornheiser’s attic, we good, as that and live sports is the only reason to ever tune to ESPN.

ESPN played a common game. They had a near complete monopoly on sports TV…and when consumers started switching to streaming content and YouTube sports shows they thought they had such a hold that they were utterly untouchable. And as they collapsed from a lack of innovation they tried hiring the same YouTube sports shows that were their undoing. It’s a death spiral of a company that has failed to adapt to a changing market.

I haven’t tuned into any ESPN shows in like 10 years

Only watch ESPN or ESPN 2 when they have soccer, basketball, tennis games on

  11. GorillaGlueWookie

Stephen A is terrible for sports

  12. Sports tv boom is coming to a close. Not going away by any means, but some of those giant tv deal are about to disappear.

  13. goldhbk10

First take going away would be a true victory for all sports, especially if that signals the beginning of the end for all of this talk debate garbage.

  14. IlonggoProgrammer

Wait, but those two studios are where almost all of their shows are broadcast from now. Are they moving everything back to Bristol like it used to be?

  15. sleep1nghamster

Why pay for your own studio space when you can sign Pat McAfee to a contract and he has his own space.

  16. Jakanzi

One reason ESPN is struggling financially is because things like the TV contract for the NBA rights cost so much money. If owning those rights is not profitable, it seems to me the continued rise in team evaluations and player contracts is not sustainable

  17. Snoo-1474

Oh damn. How else will I get to hear Kendrick Perkins?

  18. PepeSylvia11

Quite the deceptive little title we got here. Convenient of them to leave out the fact that they’re just moving to a new building being constructed in Manhattan

  19. The_Almighty_GFK

This makes the Pat McAfee signing look all that much more weird. ESPN gave him a ton of money, then a month or so after the deal was announced they had that mass firing of prominent ESPN figures, and now this. I dont blame Pat, but it seems like ESPN may have been banking on his show being a huge success, especially with the younger crowd, and probably not seeing the results they thought they would.

Can’t wait for NBC to get the NBA back so I can hear my favorite song, Roundball Rock

  21. TdotSkunt

Damn thought it was better news. Was hoping they shut down entirely
