Raptors Reported in ANOTHER Trade for a Star Guard…

The Toronto Raptors have been rumoured to acquire multiple star players over the course of this off-season, and now Shams of the Athletic has reported the Raptors could be in the mix for Jrue Holiday. Ben Rogers breaks down whether or not the deal is possible and if he would be a good fit with the Toronto Raptors.

  1. It has already been reported jrue is looking at 6 teams and Toronto is not one of them. He could also only be a one year rental. Not worth it. He will be great for a team that needs to win now (older) like the lakers. Let’s focus on growing our own stars right now.

  2. If Lillard was not a true target for the Raptors then Holiday is no where near, not even in the same galaxy.

  3. What we really need right now is to extend our players. Letting them walk next year for free is really iffy like Ibaka, Gasol, Fvv, Green, Kawhi, that one of Pascal and OG walking would send this team 10 years back.

  4. Tbh I don't think there's anyone we should go for at this point. We missed out on Giannis twice and Dame, those are probably the biggest fish we could've got as a rental who are superstar talents when given the right supporting cast. The direction should be rebuild for us. We're very far away from truly being competitive again and even being finals bound.

  5. Dieeee eassyy fans. Everywhere… 2nd most wins in the league last 10 years, GT takes step ahead, OG takes step ahead, Schroeder better than advertised, Scotties takes a leap, New coach new culture. Just chill, give it a min, a lot has changed in a way

  6. just stop with these rumors. We're going to suck scoring 90 points a game until 2027, deal with it.

  7. Every playoff team could use a lockdown perimeter defender and decent PG. Portland will be getting nice assets in return…

  8. I actually think it makes way more sense for Raps as he would be cheaper to acquire.

But seems like too much interest from other teams for our price range.

I assume a contender will end up with him, but I guess ya never know.

  9. Naaah we don’t want 2 way 33y old PG Jrue, what we need is 3 pt shooters and more shooters

  10. I hated the idea of a DL trade. However, JH would totally fit the Raptors and is exactly what we need. While I wouldn't go all in to get him, I think we could put together a competitive package centered around GTJ and another player that isn't Grady Dick + a pick or two. If the Blazers refuse to do business with us, then I'm fine with what we have. These new coaches are going to have our rag tag group of "non-stars" working together like a well oiled machine at both ends of the floor–you wait and see! Go Raps!!!

  11. If I’m the Blazers and I see Masai’s name on the caller ID I’m hitting ignore.

  12. The anti Toronto expose is really ramping up this year. Hard to see how one of the top cities on the planet draws so much venom from players and sportscasters alike. I think the naysayers are just narrow minded, low IQ, assholes.

  13. Only way Jrue would make sense would either be for a cheaper package or if we could guarantee Scottie was going to be a star player.

  14. Bring Lowry back! Let him retire a Raptor! 🎉

His leadership alone can help the next generation Raps grow.

  15. I seriously hope not. Jrue is even older than dame. Enough is enough. Time to go with the youth movement.

  16. The only move that would make sense now is pascal trade. I love pascal. But it’s time to go towards the younger time line. Retool for a push in 3-5 years. Sign OG, Gary, precious, extend Scottie. And make a play for the future. I would love AJ griffin from the hawks. Maybe reignite the talks with ATL. Now that bucks got dame, ATL might feel they need to add now. So them aiming for pascal makes sense. Aj griffin, deandre Hunter, bufkin, 1 first round pick, and 1 swap. Get it done

  17. Boucher is a former Duck that made up the three killer B’s. Him and Dick would be fine plus 2 firsts. Or Barnes and a pick or two. So Boucher would be home bound. The Blazers need rebounding help and Dick would add three point scoring

  18. Jrue probably one of the least hated players in the league. Hope he finds a team hes happy with

  19. I was in favour of a trade for Dame, Scoot, Giannis, and even KD (while keeping Scottie).
But if we give up any assets for Jrue Holiday, we are selling HARD. Jrue is not a superstar caliber player to pull in other great players. If we got Dame we may have been able to sign Giannis on free agency. Jrue brings no one. He's a veteran two-way guard as a great piece in a championship team, but we are nowhere near that. Jrue also can't really singlehandedly carry the team. Players like Jrue and OG are core pieces but we should be aiming either at S tier players like Dame/Giannis or sticking to the rebuild. Milwaukee got Giannis from a draft and look what they built around him. Imagine if we can develop Scottie or Grady to that level.

At this point, at most we should trade Pascal for huge draft capital (ideal) or as part of a package for a S tier player, or just keep what we have.
