Here's my take….Siakam has already informed them he wants to go for the Super Max so why bother have talks if Siakam will turn down the extension. Also if you sign Pascal to an extension right now you cant trade him until next offseason as he wont be trade eligible for 6 months which takes you past the trade deadline.
OG wont sign an extension right now as the max we can offer him is 114/4yrs since he took a team friendly deal last time…OG is worth more than this. MPJ got 179/5 from Denver, Jerami Grant got 160/5….this is something more OG is currently worth
Feels like they want to trade OG and Pascal at the trade deadline. If that was the case, you can’t pay them now. OG will be gone, hopefully we get Pascal back this upcoming offseason after getting something for him. That’s you we build out this roster.
FVV also said that the team didn’t offer him the extension, and then we saw that they did. Lets don’t over-react

The harsh reality is that the tandem of Ujiri/Webster is overrated and ineffective. They just aren't very good. They are riding the high of our single championship. We don't want just one…..we'd like another one but the tandem has no clue what they are doing.
Usually I buy tix for the season. This year I'm passing on that. Tons of my friends are doing the same thing. The team has ZERO direction. As such there is NO WAY I'm spending my hard-earned money on directionless mediocrity

I almost NEVER make a huge deal of this type of thing. Pple talk about FVV “lying” etc about an extension. These guys are trying to leverage money, on both sides. It’s illogical to assume everything we hear or have been told is exactly how it is.
Like FVV got a MAX. Whether by dumb luck or strategy advised by his agent, he clearly made the right move to disregard contract talks in the media. It’s weird how in sports, just because they’re millionaires and contracts are public, that the media and fans feel so entitled to clarity and honest answers as if these dudes are all supposed to be negotiating publicly through the media etc.

Siakim screwed the raps trade possibilities this summer with the bs about him not wanting to sign anywhere but toronto. Take a pay cut Spicy if u luv toronot so much !!! They will have to trade him during the season for a fraction of what he is worth because he screwed them with those comments

Siakam wants to stat pad for supermax. If hes traded to a contender and hes a number 2 he wont get the super max
Pascal wants a super max, hes not worth it. If the Raptors pay him that it cripples the team. You need to put up big numbers and lead a winning program to earn that SM, not put up ok numbers on a mid team. He didnt even make All NBA 3rd team last year. On top of that no super star player is going hey lets head over to Toronto to play with Pascal Siakam. Hard truths from a fan of 22 years. Ive seen more rough season than good ones. This is the only smart decision the GM has made. Large expiring contracts are often appealing in trades to teams trying to clear cap space that just need a rental. Siakams contract expiring is one of the appeals to other teams for a trade mid season. The teams history with letting go of players for nothing is apparent, maybe this is the opportunity to show theyve learned from their mistakes. Id rather lose him for nothing than pay him a SM at least we'd have CAP space. Owners have paid luxury tax only one time. Unless youre ok with .500 and a play in game.

Trade Siakiam and GTJ to Miami for picks and Lowry, Robinson, Jovic and Joaquin and OG to OKC for Bartans and draft capital. I’m calling it now Darko won’t allow Siakiam to stay Pad and he will be traded by November or December.
How the hell does Vanvleet leaving make our team worse. Vanvleet was a cancer who stat padded for his contract thank god he left.
Stop with this "for nothing" stuff. If Pascal leaves, at least he's off the books and the money that he expects to get can be given to another player or free agent. I love Pascal and he appears to be a cool dude but he does disappear during the playoffs and we have to go through it to win the chip.
