Danny, come on, not fair to say "they weren't willing to do that [surround Dame with athletes] whether it was Neil or Joe". Bull, Cronin tried to move in that direction and simply ran out of runway. That's not on him. It's on Olshey. Full stop.

"Loyalty" is such a strange concept in sports. I think "Honor" might be a more appropriate term…did Cronin honor Dame? Hell yeah he did. He sent him to literally the best possible basketball opportunity on the planet. Did PDX honor Jrue, hell yeah they did. Cronin sent him to literally the best place he could send him outside of (checks notes) MILWAUKEE! Was there pettiness by Cronin by not calling MIA, Yes. Was there poor form by not talking to Dame at camp? Yes. But, in the end PDX and Cronin honored Dame and didn't simply send him to basketball Siberia. Can you imagine sending Dame to some place like…Atlanta 🤢…
IMO PDX represented themselves well and I think the league respects the way they conducted the trade. A TON of fans started to turn on Dame and a TON of players sort of acknowledged that it was poor form for Dame to demand a trade to one ace and then have his agent go scorched Earth.

Dame's agent doesn't do anything his client doesn't either explicitly of implicitly approve of. Dame never went to Goodwin and told him to stop going scorched earth.
Dame is smart enough to know the situation and if he thought for one second that the Heat had a package that would be enough, he was out to lunch.
