[Forsberg] Talked to Robert Williams at 8 am this morning. He was gushing about the season ahead in Boston. Sigh.

> Sigh.

Thoughts? Felt like Rob was a big part of the Celtics success, especially defensively. Curious to see how their fans feel.

Celtics fans just fell to their knees at TD Bank

League is business, we should respect players having commitment on teams but also understand that this is about winning and business

  3. Sounds like he’s about to get traded to the Heat to begin his own revenge szn like Jrue

  4. Dangerous_Toe_5482

Hes like the last person id have wanted to trade. Brad even said the other day he values Rob as highly as anyone on the roster. Guess it says a lot about how he views Jrue for this roster too

  5. I_Set_3_Alarms

Ahhhh why’d we have to trade him too. Sad stuff.

Hopefully we follow the ways of the Bucks and win right after making a big trade for Jrue Holiday.

I’m super excited to get Porzingis and Jrue on our team.

But goddamn it hurts to see Smart and Timelord go in the same offseason.

Smart especially. Dude has been the heart of this team for almost a decade.

This business is cold. But I’m always gonna root for Smart and Timelord. I hope they stay healthy, make All-NBA, All-Defense teams and wreck faces.

Rob was always hurt, and knowing chess master Brad I’m sure he’s got something lined up to reduce the loss a bit. I’m not worried.

Rob is a hell of a player but it’s started to feel like he’s never going to have a fully healthy run. This would hurt a lot more if it didn’t seem like he was on a downward trend physically

I know Forsberg is crushed. Rob was his guy. 😔

  10. Blaze2444

For context Forsberg is like the biggest Rob stan in existence so dude is in shambles rn

  11. He was key to their top defence a year and a half ago when they got to the finals but his impact has declined since then

  12. Wishiwasaballerbaby

I was curious about Robert because he didn’t look good most of last season. I still hope he looks like the guy from 2 seasons ago but there’s a real chance that player only shows up in burst. Hopefully he gets back to his elite help defense self.

Why is there always a report like that for every players that got traded the last few days

Man I fell down on my kneeeessss when the trade came

  17. I_Set_3_Alarms

Dame was a big reason I rooted for the Trailblazers before.

Now is because of Timelord. Also go Grizzlies!

I feel bad for someone like him joining our rebuilding team from a champ contender. The good news is he’ll have more playing time likely and put up some big stats.

I am so sad Rob is gone. For the last 2 years I’ve been saying “as soon as Rob is healthy” which, of course didn’t really happen, but I feel so conflicted about trading 2 guys who really helped us out last year for 1 who hasn’t been a particularly great playoff performer

If Portland keeps him, you’re going to love Rob when he’s out there. If he just plays backup to Ayton I think he can manage to stay relatively healthy and that’s easily the best backup C in the league

The loss of Smart and Rob Will shook me for real. Two guys that everyone would love to have on their team and that actually loved the city.

If it was 8 am in the afternoon then it’d be waaaay different!

Talked to Zion at 8am this morning. He was gushing about Golden Corrals all you can eat breakfast buffet. Sigh.

Losing smart and rob in the same off-season is heart breaking. Was excited for rob this season too because it was his first healthy off-season. Trading away all of Tatum’s favs

  24. sebastiy1

Seems like a gamble tbh, now more than ever we either win it all or suffer from line-ups that get older/worse every year, somewhat similar of a situation to the bucks/suns with the caveat of having Tatum and Brown to redevelop if things don’t pan out, fingers crossed this gamble pays up for he C’s.

Lot of emotional reactions, the three guys with the most on court fire are gone now with a collective 18 years on the Celtics. Everyone loves Rob and it’ll be tough to see his tenure end.

That said, Celtics fans are overvaluing Rob based on a single season where he remained mostly healthy. Every other he’s either hurt, or time missed with injury has affected his ability to integrate into the team structure. He also caught lobs from Smart far more often than everyone else, and last year everyone seemed to struggle to find him on the roll. I don’t think the Celtics can recapture the 21-22 defense even if they kept him, Joe isn’t Ime and the loss of Smart for KP already screws with switchability. To swap him and another major injury risk for an all nba, all defense level guy with championship experience is something you do 100/100 times IMO

Dang as a warriors fan I feel Timelord killed us so lol I’m OK with this trade. Celtics got fleeced

  27. tmapfbc

Is Jrue and Kristaps really an upgrade over Timelord, Smart, and Brogdon? I’m really not sure. It will be interesting to find out. I’m mostly upset because I love Jrue, but there’s no way I can cheer for him now. 🙁 fuck the celtics

  28. ryano46

It’s a pretty decent move in a vacuum but a great move given the eastern conference landscape. Getting Jrue keeps him away from two key competitors (Heat and 76ers).

  29. FilmCroissant

This is why I’ll never complain about “too much player empowerment”

  30. cheddar0053

Loved Rob. Loved Smart. Loved Brogdon. This off-season made no sense to me. Gutted

  31. JimboCruntz

I’m sure the Celtics will miss him for the 12 games a season he actually plays.
