[Bondy] Thibodeau on Evan Fournier’s discontent: “I have great respect for him. …It’s hard to argue with a 37-22 record (after Fournier was removed from the starting lineup) and a plus net rating.”

“i have great respect for him as a person and formerly as a basketball player. as a CURRENT player, i fucking hate him, and here’s why…”

“Yeah he’s a nice guy but he can’t do shit for me on that court”

I have nothing against Fournier but publicly saying the org is holding you hostage was absolutely not the play. He asked for a remark like this coming back his way.

Why tf is Thibs saying this? We should be gassing him up for better trade value.

Thibs dropping that knowledge. Dude made his informed decision.

Thibs just saying what we already know.

Nothing wrong with it at all. Evan at this point in his career is best as a microwave scorer off the bench for a contender or a starter on a rebuilding team.

I thank the basketball gods everyday that we put a team option on that four year contract.

Exactly right and good for Thibs for saying it. Fournier can be as malcontent as he wants but you can’t argue with results. We looked like a different, better team when we switched the lineup and took Fournier out of the rotation. It’s got to be tough as a player to see that happen, but if I were Fournier I wouldn’t be yapping to the media and bringing attention to the fact that the Knicks were MUCH better without me if I wanted to keep playing in the NBA, which his comments seem to indicate.

Fournier is understandably annoyed at not playing, but he should try to work on the part of his game that made him unplayable (cement blocks for feet, inexplicable coverage decisions) rather than throw a pity party

Didn’t know Thibs had that in him. Respect level just went way up.

Where’s the lie? Can’t argue with results.

Damn he bought the numbers too. I feel bad for Fournier but the results speak for themselves. Gotta play the role the team needs and if you can’t contribute, get to work on improving or you have nothing to say. This is the NBA bro, the best of the best and if you aren’t getting minutes there’s a reason. If there was a trade out there that benefits the team I’m sure he’d already be traded. It doesn’t seem like that’s the case here though

Damn thibs out here murdering folks.
