Nurse:
“I alluded to the fact that you kind of have to have two visions going here as things go, I think Tyrese gets the ball in his hands a lot more,” said Nurse. “That automatically is going to give him opportunities for pace, it’s going to give him opportunities for offensive creation, both for himself and his teammates.”
“It’s going to give him experience reading defenses,” continued Nurse in Maxey’s bigger role. He’ll have to go through a learning curve with that because he’ll see different schemes and different matchups that will look different to him than they did a year ago, but I think the short answer here is he’s just going to get more chances.”
Maxey:
“I’m ready for whatever. Someone told me that [coach Nick Nurse] was talking about Plan A or Plan B, I’m ready for Plan C, D, all the way down to Z,” said Maxey. “Honestly, I’ve been doing a lot of things to find ways to get better to fine tune my game and find ways to be the best version of Tyrese Maxey, I can be.”

Then the fanbase needs to be OK with some growing pains too though. Last year he was experiencing exactly what Nurse is describing and everyone was calling for him to go back to the starting lineup where those opportunities would go away.
I’m glad Tyrese gets an whole season to work on his playmaking and facilitation. No more of him sitting in the corner I hope
Thought I’d post the only media day news I saw that was actually basketball related! and exciting news imo. if Maxey can become a playmaker on top of the game he already has, then we are a lot better
its not like there is much of a choice. what other guard’s hands would the ball be put in if james isn’t there ?
Lol. I have a feeling coach Nurse could give 2 fu*KS about Harden. He seemed to be enamored with the potential of Maxey , an MVP caliber player, and getting best out of underutilized high end role player in Tobi.
It will be fun to see what Maxey can do this year with more chances. I know we don’t have much to be hopeful for, but Tyrese is legitimately fun to watch and even if we end up blowing it all up or flaming out, it should at the very least be entertaining basketball when Maxey is out there.
