The Philadelphia 76ers have paid James Harden the 25 percent of his 23-24 contract he was scheduled to receive by Sunday, sources told Tim MacMahon of ESPN.

The Sixers made the payment to Harden on Friday. Philadelphia previously paid Harden his initial 25 percent payment on July 1st.

Harden did not attend media day with the Sixers on Monday and was not on their team plane to their training camp in Colorado Springs as he continues to seek a trade.

I mean, I get why this is being reported on but what were they really supposed to do? If he’s owed his money before media day you can’t withhold his pay because you think he might not come. The real story is whether he gets paid going forward now that he’s gone AWOL.

He essentially got paid because he “quit” the day after the pay period ended.

An absolute shit show .. u/dmorey should be held accountable and fired .. we have the MVP and maxey putting up with this nonsense whilst Boston and bucks are laughing at us … fuck you daryl ! Makes me sick that assholes make more money in a year than most people make in a lifetime and DONT fulfill their obligations. Harden is a loser and if he wanted out of Philly, he shouldn’t have opted in to his contract. Fuck him.

Morey did all that tough talk and he’s folding just like he did with Simmons. Lmao pay him or don’t he’s still gonna sabatoge us

Well if he waits more than 30 days, he won’t accrue a season. So fuck it, wait him out

  6. It drives me nuts how the concept of a legally binding contract is completely lost on so many people these days. “But teams can trade players whenever they want without their say, so why shouldn’t players have control over where they go!”. I’m not sure if it’s just the 15 year olds or if people are really this fucking stupid.

Well, NBA teams quite literally pay for one thing from NBA players. They pay for the rights to control their NBA career for X amount of time agreed to in a contract. The team now owns this control and the player gets generational wealth for giving up this control. Teams have the right to play, sit, trade, or cut this player for as long as they’re under contract.
