Isaac Okoro’s stagnation and other under discussed Cavs topics | Cleveland Cavaliers podcast

On a new episode of Locked on Cavs (Wednesday, Sept. 20, 2023) hosts Chris Manning (@cwmwrites, DIME on UPROXX, The Just Basketball Show, SB Nation’s Fear the Sword, Forbes Sports) and Evan Dammarell (@AmNotEvan, Right Down Euclid) look at three Cavs topics they think were under discussed last year: Ricky Rubio’s impact the year before and what was lost, the lack of the 3-2 zone look on defense and regular season success hitting its limit.

This episode was produced by Jake Stephens. The intro music is from our friends at Astral Radio.

  1. Okoro had to see this coming, he should have been in the gym putting in the work for that easy money athletes make.

  2. If they pick up the pace, then they could score more in transition by utilizing Isaac Okoro's scoring ability in transition.

  3. The 2020 draft was a terrible lottery crapshoot outside of Ant, and Lamelo. Cavs aren't going to have any high picks for the foreseeable future. Okoro is still only 22 years old. It's vital for the Cavs to continue developing him. The team isn't going to have any salary cap space after next off-season so as long as his contract is moveable, the Cavs should be looking to bring him back. His TS% has gone up every season and he's by far our best perimeter defender outside of Evan Mobley. 3 years/36 mill is what the Cavs should be looking to lock him up for. The Cavs are going to be a very good regular season team and should be looking for some match-ups (Hornets, Wizards, Pistons, etc) that they should win handsomely and give Okoro heavy minutes. Cavs aren't legitimate contenders. They don't have the depth. Developing 22 yr Okoro is more important than you guys think.

  4. This is what I have been saying for years that Isaac Okoro is holding the CAV'S back because the position he plays is the most important position on the floor, u need productivity as far as scoring from that spot on the floor, something he is yet to provide.
