Embiid on Philadelphia’s offensive changes: “The biggest difference? I love it and we all love it. This is the best way to win and I’ve always believed that. I never liked the idea of just being a scorer.”

Also Embiid after scoring 52 points: “why change what works?”

Did no one watch Toronto’s offense last year?

  3. nowhathappenedwas

When did Nick Nurse become a ball movement guy?

  4. cactus_jack_1

God these guys are gonna have the most competitive 2nd round exit in years

Lmao our squad unanimously slandering doc 🤣🤣🤣🤣

Sixers fans keep saying that Nurse is gonna change the offense to be less selfish and more ball movement but my question is who on that team besides Harden can you rely upon to get the offense flowing because opposing teams aren’t just gonna let you happily pass the ball around until you get an open shot? I don’t see another playmaker on that team and Embiid can’t complete a pass unless the target is stationary?

Embiid winning an MVP right before getting a new coach is definitely helpful for the sixers. Now he doesn’t need to care about his individual performance as much

Is this Embiid talking like he’s in a job interview and he’s just saying what we want to hear?

  9. LoveIslandFansRawk

I can just see Embiid one-handing no-look passes Jokic-style behind his head to an overzealous Harden cutting baseline like Aaron Gordon 😉

I think Sixers actually would have won that series vs Boston if Nurse was coaching instead of ol Doc.

  11. This is cool but no offense is going to look good if furkan korkmaz is in your rotation

We’ve always criticized Doc for running staid offenses with a lack of creativity. Nick Nurse is going to be a much different chance of pace and is someone who has been adaptable throughout his career.

Taking advantage of the PnR more with Harden+Embiid, which has statistically been one of the most efficient plays in the NBA, should be a start. More dribble handoffs with Embiid in a two/three man game with Maxey or Harris and getting those two downhill would also be a great way to keep them involved. Less Embiid ball dominance will also keep him healthier throughout the season.

  13. I will never slander Nick Nurse…but to this day I don’t know what a Nick Nurse offense actually is.

This might be crazy but I think there’s a real chance is Harden bonds with Nurse and the team he agrees to stay inspite of Morey. Harden Balling out in Philly and waiting til free agency for a big deal could really change his outlook.

Inject Doc Rivers slander right into my fucking veins

It’s training camp, I’d expect these type of quotes. It’s all good to put the blame on Doc now, there’s nothing to say they’re wrong. That said, this new system had better be the answer to everything they’re currently laying the blame on Doc for or else it all comes back on them. Nurse is a damn good coach, so I have no reason to think it won’t work, just saying, it had better be the answer or they’ll look foolish.

I love coaches who basically put the five best players they can out there and let them fight it out. Five basketball players who you’ve spent time with in practice, let them go to their jobs. Twerk lineups and rest players as they need it. A coach should be supporting his players, not the other way around.

I’m excited to watch them play. Embiid is over-hated as a player, watching their offense under doc was beyond painful. He was not put in a position to win in the playoffs.
