I have no idea where Anunoby will end up at the start of next season. But as a 26-year-old soon-to-be unrestricted free agent with the prototypical 3-and-D skillset, Anunoby will get paid by someone, particularly if he’s traded (the trading team will have sent out assets for him, giving Anunoby significant leverage). He’s one of the best one-on-one defenders in the league and possesses a ridiculous defensive motor.
I’ve never forgotten this play from the Raps’ very first game of the season when he flew down the court from the opposite corner for an outrageous chasedown block:
Anunoby is also a proven high-volume shooter, and he’d fit almost any team like a tailored suit.
The max the Raptors could extend him for is $112 million over four years. That’s not going to come close. He’ll be looking for at least $40 million annually plus additional incentives (let’s call it $160 million guaranteed). Four years will allow him to hit free agency again before he hits 30 to lock in another massive long-term deal.
Legitimate 3-and-Ds get paid, and nobody personifies the role quite like OG. His contract will pop eyes. I’m not even sure this counts as an unlikely prediction.

I’d like to think the contract will be similar to the 5/160 contract Jerami Grant got, and OG is a slightly better player
if og shows a consistent bag even if he avgs under 20 he’s gonna get the max. especially if he can control his handle. A passing big and the need for shot creation at this point in career is a great opportunity for him
He should get paid what he deserves. If Masai lets him walk for nothing like he did Fred then he needs to be fired.
45 AAV for OG is too rich for my taste however if it’s that or lose him you have to match it right? Like there’s no upside to letting him walk cause they’re capped out regardless.

Resign him and if it works great otherwise trade some time next season and get a haul of picks and young talent. We cant just let these guys leave for nothing

With how much the salary cap keeps rising every year these numbers would make a lot more sense for the average fan if they also added what % of the salary cap a player contract is.

put up 20 PPG, 2.2. SPG, 1.7 BLKs, and 8 RPG, 40% 3PT and 46%FG and make it to ECF this year if you want that money
