Did Marvin Bagley III Win The Backup Center Spot After The First Preseason Game For Detroit Pistons?

Marvin Bagley III scored 25 points all in the second half and overtime for the Detroit Pistons after not playing at all in the first half. Bagley is known to be in a battle with fellow big man James Wiseman for the backup center position; Wiseman finished the day with four points and three turnovers. Did Bagley play well enough in just one game for the battle to be over and the back center position to be his?

  1. Bagley had such a good game in limited minutes. Killian looked great out there as well. 5 STEALS?! He came to earn his spot as well. You can def tell Cade was still knocking the rust off but nonetheless looked nice as well. Jaden Ivey is learning to slowly become better at defense which i saw as well tonight. Very happy about it. Hope Duren and Bojan come back soon from injury. Excited to say Pistons basketball is back.

  2. My first impressions were Bagley is determined and focused. Killian isn't going down easy. Ausar should push Cade for minutes played. The balance Williams talked about could be putting a veteran next to Cade and Ivey. This would give more shots for Ivey being the focus off the bench. Which makes me think that a triangle offense with two veteran shooters could be used alot. Cade playing a two man game with Duren with Ausar as their cutter and safety valve with the two vets being Burks and Bojan at the three point line.

  3. Ausar is our more athletic and skilled Draymond. Our connecter. Gonna help make us click.

  4. An interesting small ball defensive lineup would be Cade Ivey Killian Ausar and Stew. Livers replacing Ivey when healthy.

  5. 1st Listen …I've always felt like Bagley was better than Wiseman. Bagley biggest issue is health. Game for game, I think Bagley out edges Wiseman. We'll see how it goes. Stay up Ku.

  6. Ivey should be starting. Cade need another dynamic talent next to him who could take pressure off of him. Ivey 3 level scoring provides that significantly. Imo Bogi should be the amp off the bench with Cade, Ivey, Ausar, Duren being inevitable starters.

  7. The first quarter was a gut punch to the Pistons. The new Suns big three couldn't miss and Grayson was on fire. The Pistons offense scheme looked promising with lots of ball movement and pick n rolls but the ball didnt went in. Ausar, Ivey, Killian, Bagley and Stanley Umude played well.

  8. Marvin shouldn't be a back up 5 when he's a pf. Monte is reminding me of Casey all over again. Starting lineup should be 1 thru 5 Cade Ivey ausar Marvin and Jaden at the 5

  9. That starting lineup was weak without Ivey tbh. Even though Ivey wasn't going 100% he looked better than basically everyone on that starting 5. My theory is because Bojan wasn't playing, Monty wanted another vet on the court and since Burks plays the SG they just decided to bench Ivey. While it's good on paper, Cade being the primary offensive threat just isn't enough especially since Ausar still needs a lot of work on the offensive end.

  10. I said once and I'll say it again. Killian is in the top three guards on the Pistons. I don't care who they brought in or how big their name is, Killian can play defense better and is a better play maker than all of the new guards.

  11. Wiseman showed some improvement on offense, he constantly look for the open man and was active on the boards. He might have posted once but mostly helped the offense flow. The issue I noticed was that he struggled defensively in the post. Bagley immediately checked in, got a lob from Cade and was crashing the boards. Then Killian and Bagley two man game helped close the gap. Then Ausar and Umude been cluth tied the game. Bagley showed that if healthy, he is the best option for backup C.

  12. There were some positive performances along with early concerns. Bagley played with some urgency & looked good scoring the ball within the offense. Killian looked good on both sides of ball 🏀 as did Ausar (needs to cut down the turnovers). Ivey looked like he could be that primary scorer if he came off the bench. Really liked that they played with more pace. Early concerns that are a carryover over from last season are defensive (allowing 40+ in 1st qtr) & 3pt shooting (Stew 1-6?)
