Kris Dunn for starting Pg I’ve seen enough

  2. KlythsbyTheJedi

UNDEFEATED TO START AND UNDEFEATED WE SHALL STAY, 82-0

  3. lemmegetauhhhhhhhhhh

kris dunn randomly going from a draft bust in the g league to a starting caliber nba point guard within a year at age 29 is such a fascinating development

  4. Stang-er

Yasss it’s good to be back!!

Dunn and Keyonte are looking good!

  5. FERFreak731

Imagine telling a Jazz fan 2 years ago that KD, and Luka would lead to a Jazz victory

  6. Con_Man_69

The Kris Dunn revival arc is back for a 2nd Season!

  7. helix400

Dunn was 7-7 on shots, 5 assists, 2 steals, and 1 clutch block.

  8. FERFreak731

Dunn, and Ochai start. Since I’m a Keyonte fan, he can stay. If we can trade Collin, and THT, I wouldn’t be mad. Clarkson can stay too, because he’s a vet. If we can get picks for Collin, and THT, I’ll be happy.

Kelly could get traded too, because Luka deserves minutes

  9. thatdudeabiding

keyonte played a ton, easy to see his athleticism and potential. really hope hendricks gets some minutes with rotation players and not just end of the bench guys. poor bryce didnt sniff the court

Obligatory “it’s preseason” disclaimer and none of this might end up mattering. That being said:

    – Ochai looked much more confident and varied on offense, he had some impressive drives to the rim

    – Kessler somehow looks even better around the rim. He is really special.

    – Dunn picked up where he left off last season and was far and away the best PG tonight

    – THT and Sexton look similar to last season. Had a couple playmaking flashes but the ball tended to stick a lot. I think it’s worth giving them reps at PG still to see if those flashes can turn into anything.

    – Keyonte had a number of rookie mistakes, especially on defense. But he looked confident, had some nice playmaking moments (more than THT or Sexton imo) and is reeeealllly quick. I definitely think he’s in the rotation.

    – Yurtseven looks like a serviceable backup or third string center

    – Hendricks looked lost out there. I wouldn’t be surprised if he’s in the G League for awhile to start the season.

    – Samanic’s shot looked good. If he keeps it up, I can see him working his way into the rotation.

It’s so good to be back, guys. I missed you all.

My property on Dunn island is feeling luscious tonight

  12. MountainPK

Sign him for the season. Then start him for the season. Dunn is the guy.

Kris Dunn should be the starter for the next preseason game for sure. He didn’t play until the 2nd half but the team came alive with him on the floor. Played well on both ends of the floor and looked like a PG savant late in the 4th.

Kessler was dominant on defense. Markkanen looks good. Agbaji was really active and had a great impact with the second unit.

Keyonte showed flashes of his athleticism and got to the FT line with ease. Definitely looks like a rookie but he got more comfortable as the game went on. George and Dunn were a nice duo to close the game along with our flamethrower Luka Samanic. Hendricks had a nice 3 off the dribble and they drew up shots for him off of screens, but he didn’t really do much with his 4th quarter minutes except grab some clutch boards.

Not sure how I feel about THT or Sexton yet but it’s just one game.

Glad y’all beat those clippers, the Jazz have quite a few good pieces in their pocket. Love watching Kessler work. Dunn was great in the 4th and he certainly belong in the Jazz rotation, but I think it’s important to note that this was done against third stringers and not Kawhi and PG.

  15. I know it’s preseason, but Kris Dunn MIP, MVP, DPOY, FMVP, All-nba, All-star.

    GAME NOTES:

    I’M BACK

Keyonte George struggled the first quarter, and looked out of place. However he was money from then on with some great passes. 10 points 5 assists +15, but 2-9 shooting. Great dribble penetration though, and despite the poor shooting I thought he played pretty well outside of the first quarter.

Lauri played the first half and looked like he was looking for ways to score. Rather than letting it come to him, he was forcing it, which I think is great. He was hunting for shots but not in a negative sense. 4-10, 0-3 from 3, 10 points 8 rebounds in 18 minutes.

Taylor Hendricks didn’t play until the fourth, which is a red flag to me. He has crazy length, and hit a clean step back 3 for his first shot, but he didn’t look nba speed ready. 3 points 4 rebounds

THT looked like regular ole THT out there. Some wild drives and iffy passes, but ended with 13 points, 6 rebounds. I think he and George will be competing for backup PG minutes to start the season, but then I think Dunn and THT will compete for backup PG minutes to end the season.

Sexton looked rough. 3 points, 5 assists, 4 turnovers. Nothing stood out too much. Wild drives.

Clarkson played 14 minutes, and put up a neat statline of 6 points, 0 assists, 0 rebounds, 0 steals, 0 blocks, 1 turnover lmao. Same ole clarkson

John Collins flew in an alley oop from Sexton, and also had a no hesitation 3 which was nice. Would’ve liked to see more from him, but it’s just preseason.

Luka Samanic was our closer lmao. 5 mintues, 9 points, 3-4 shooting, 2-2 from 3. He came in and closed the game out and got us the W

Agbaji was my MVP because he looks like he’s improved from last year. He was driving, not relying on catch n shoots, and was making nice plays. Looked confident out there. He had a good heads up play to steal a saved ball under the hoop to hit the easy layup. 9 points 3 rebounds, but no assists.

Sheriff Walker Kessler is probably the game MVP, elite defense. 5 blocks, 7 points, 7 rebounds in 24 minutes. ELITE DEFENSE

Dunn looked great, perfect 7-7 shooting, and automatic from the paint. He also hit a 3! I think he starts this year, but like I said, I want George to take that spot from him. 15 points, 5 assists, 2 rebounds, 2 steals, 1 block, 1 TO, 16 minutes. Good command over the ball and looked like a true vet out there.

Yurtseven looked good. Great size, good feel for pick n roll and dump down looks at the basket. I think he won’t play much, but looks a lot better than Udoka would for a 3rd string big

No Sensabaugh, hopefully we see him this preseason.

    1-0 in the preseason bitches!

  17. Kessler really turned it on in the second half, that was good to see, he felt like a non-factor in the first.

Abaji looked great, that’s promising to see.

A lot of our guard play was a little disappointing. I was hoping more from George but shouldn’t take too much from one game. Sexton’s shooting was a bummer, but he made a lot of good reads, must have made playmaking a priority this off-season

  18. epoch_fail

Even if it was against the Clippers bench, Kris Dunn went 7-7 for 15 points with 5 assists, 2 steals, 1 block, 1 turnover. He was cooking.

Walker Kessler with 5 blocks. I don’t think much more needs to be said.

Agbaji was incredibly scrappy and frequently in the right place at the right time. The shooting will come, but his effort is paying off.

Lauri, Olynyk, Clarkson: Mostly an extension of last season. None of them really tried to force anything, letting others take the spotlight.

Keyonte George and Taylor Hendricks with multiple rookie moments. Still, the talent is palpable for George, and Hendricks probably needs to get up to speed after missing summer league.

THT was really meh. Sexton, too. Fast slashers relying on athleticism to get the hole. Sexton can shoot 3’s, but he’s also shorter by a bit. Sexton had a few better moments than THT, but it’s weird having both out there starting for us. I wouldn’t be surprised if either start losing minutes to Dunn or George, because at some point, we need to stop pigeonholing score-first speedy guards into point guard roles.

I’m still out on Fontecchio. He has an interesting frame, and his shooting stroke looks good. He’s just not a good player yet on either end, and I don’t think he’ll unlock whatever can keep him in the league until it’s too late. Like he’s clearly athletic enough, but the game’s still too fast for him. Maybe he was able to get away with things (slow reactions on defense, elevating for 3’s) in Euroleague, but no luck here.

Yurtseven and Samanic played well in limited run against the Clippers bench. Yurtseven figures to be a solid third string center, and I honestly wouldn’t be opposed to trying out Samanic in Fontecchio’s minutes.

All in all, we still lack clarity in depth chart and lineups. However, I think the rookies will be brought along slowly, as they should, until they’re feeling comfortable, which could be 20 games in or next season. The first 8 being Lauri/Collins/Olynyk/Kessler and Agbaji/Clarkson/Sexton/THT going into Game 1 seems pretty likely. Dunn and George will push for backcourt minutes, but I think one will break through sooner rather than later because that’s too many score-first guards. Hendricks and Yurtseven will back up the frontcourt.

I think for now, garbage time will be George, Sensabaugh, Samanic/Fontecchio, Hendricks, and Yurtseven. (I left all the rookies in there to get minutes.)

  19. hdmetric99

Collins looked alright in his debut! I liked his effort on the boards and he brought a level of athleticism and aggressiveness at PF that we need. Lost the ball and was loose with his decisions at times, but otherwise it felt like a good debut.
