There’s a ton to look forward to with this team, can’t wait until the season starts
Starting lineup look lost. Everyone was waiting on someone to take charge and no one did. It’s preseason though so we’ll see
Very happy with that
Bazley has absolutely no handles.
Ben Simmons revenge season and Cam Thomas for 6MOTY
Fucking love cam thomas
Ben and Cam Thomas looked really good. Those are the two wild cards for the season. I am pleased
The defense wasn’t good but it’s preseason
Give me Giles and Watford for the last 2 roster spots. They both have good basketball minds. Bazley has negative basketball IQ
That game had a lot of fun and a lot of positives in it and also some stuff that I’m gonna chalk up to it being preseason game 1 and some frustrating things but mainly I’m just glad Brooklyn Nets basketball is back
Ben Simmons is back! FCK YEAH!!
Ben and Cam looked so good tonight. The future is bright for us
Bazley 5 TO’s
**The Good**
Simmons looked more aggressive than he ever did last season. Cam T was nasty on the offensive end, so he basically should have that 6th man spot locked up. We only lost by 3, even though the majority of the game felt like they were blowing us out. Also, Watford should definitely be our backup big.
**The Bad**
Bazley is buns. Mikal wasn’t feeling it. We need to work on our 3pt defense, like holy cow.
# BEN & CAM 🔥🔥🔥🔥
Highlight for me: CamT. I’m generally low on bucket-getters as meaningful contributors, but it is unreal how effortless scoring is for him. Honorable mention: Ben. Nice to see him looking more confident. Hopeful that carries over.
Lowlight: Baszley. Woof. 5 TOs in 18 min. Not sure what direction JV gave him but it looked like he was trying to be Watford and he was nowhere near it. I’m guessing he starts the season in the G League. Dishonorable mention: Lonnie. He was pure chaos in that fourth quarter. Hit a couple of circus shots but I have no idea what he was trying to do most possessions.
Overall very solid effort. Hard to read much into a pre-season game because it’s so far off from what a regular season game will look like, but nobody looked irredeemably bad. Have to figure out that defense, otherwise we’re punting our only real strength. Also I hope we don’t try that starting lineup again. Both CamT and Spence on the court messes with our defensive identity, and there still isn’t enough spacing to control the offense. Obviously this changes when CamJ is back but I’m surprised we didn’t see DFS or Royce at the 4.
Shout out to Noah Clowney. Who I think played fine for a rookie. Except he must have said some shit about Tony brothers mom – horrible refereeing on some of those calls.
Walker off the bench is going to be deadly 🫨
I’m all in on Ben, without a doubt looks like his faster and explosive self again. Our starters didn’t play good defense without Cam Johnson and seems like Mikal still needs to adjust playing with Ben.
When I’ve seen 37 win season as a prediction, I got little confused. Now it’s clear as day that it is 500 team at worst. This team is just to deep with it’s depth, exactly what regular season is about.
Two wild cards in CamT and Ben looked pretty good today. If both of them will click and stay healthy, maybe we on to something.
Some negatives:
On the ball creation was going to be a problem for this team and this game showed how poor the half court offense is going to be. Only Cam is an on ball creator offensively now that Dinwiddie is moved off ball and that is nearly not enough.
Bridges is just not it. He can’t create anything for himself or others. We are going to hope and pray he becomes something he is not and it’s going to fail and that scares me. He is 27. This is what he is at this point. An elite 3 and D player who needs others to create for him.
If you are going to play drop, you can’t do it with Cam and Dinwiddie on the floor together. They both die easily on screens. It’s crazy how Dinwiddie doesn’t even attempt to play any kind of defense. Almost every open shot the Lakers got was because they were picking on Dinwiddie each time on a screen.
The bench is going to be ok but we should have traded DFS when we had the chance. He is a very good role player who needs others to create for him like Luka did. That’s the running theme of this roster. Lot of role player parts without a star that can create for them. This team needs a Luka, Ant, Shai, someone of that ilk. I don’t know where we are getting that from.
Clowney really pleasantly surprised me. After summer league I was admittedly a bit skeptical that he could look decent any time soon, but next to real NBA players he looked infinitely better. Impressed by his rebounding for such a skinny guy.
Ben Simmons looking sexier than usual and Cam has great vision out there
