Xfinity just yanked Root on lower tier plans

Cool. Can we just kill cable already or get Root on a standalone stream like Utah.

i cannot believe they fucking pulled that shit two days before their first broadcasted game.

  2. mcwiebe

Bill going up $22.34 going to the ultimate tier. This is crap.

  3. This is the exact reason I switched to streaming. Comcast is such a terrible company. I’m fortunate to live in the Midwest so I can purchase nba league pass and see all blazer games. Sorry to everyone back in Oregon that gets screwed in this

  4. peakchungus

Use the savings to buy a pirate hat and a bottle of rum. Yarghhhh!

  5. LawrenceBrolivier

And lo, a quiet sea of black flags and broadswords were raised across the metro area that day

  6. yuyuter123

Jesus Christ lol. Dewayne has to be kicking himself for agreeing to that deal by now. Hard to know what the market looked like and I’m sure the options were bad regardless but the publicity from the Root deal has been shit since the moment it was signed.

Hopefully his pointed comments during media day were an indication that they’re actually going to move away from RSNs once this deal is up or better yet, Root goes bankrupt.

Weird to say I legit miss NBCSNW.

  7. Krustykrab8

The way they phrase this email like they are doing you a favor lmao. They remove the channel and lower your fee and then want you to pay more to get it. Absolute scum and I highly advise getting your pirate ship rather than pay for their scummy practices

  8. palmquac

Root not having a streaming option for non-cable subscribers – in addition to it being a Seattle station that prioritizes Seattle teams – makes the Blazers decision to sign with them an ongoing disaster.

  9. blackmarksonpaper

The team has fucked up the TV deal so bad it’s actually funny.

  10. the_truth15

Wouldn’t be surprised if the.reason for this was from root and not Comcast.

Also root only outputs 720p. Like wtf kind of company is this.

  11. 1850ChoochGator

I’m trying to remember why I was paying for the highest tier tv package anyway if ROOT was available on a lower one.

Must have been for pac 12 network

  12. DharmaBaller

My brothers in Christ, time to ditch cable TV.

I finnally got my father to ditch his $263 package, and he dropped to just internet($113) with a smart TV+apps+Chromecast/Google TV.

How much is your money and life worth?

Less screen time, more green time.

  13. natural_lawg

This is why you should listen to the voice of Travis Demers.

  14. AsiaNxNinja

Fuck root sports. Why did the Blazers even make this deal? They don’t even like Blazers. They’d rather play baseball or hockey first. Look at their Twitter. They don’t even post about Blazers. Just a repost of when ayton trade went down. Illegal streaming it is

  15. foreverabatman

    Hop aboard matey 🏴‍☠️🏴‍☠️🏴‍☠️

  16. BunkHammer

We need to start bombarding the team with notices like this that they’re fucking up big time being on Root

  17. BobLobLaw_Law2

I’ve been conveniently streaming sports for a decade and I feel zero guilt about it.

  18. psychosublimity

Other than pirating, is Fubo the best option now for pac 12 network and root sports?

  19. jason90210

Wooo savings!!!! Hey wait a minute…

  20. lunes_azul

Hopefully these pricks go bankrupt soon. Is it 3 more seasons of this otherwise?

The Phoenix Suns let you stream all of their games for $14.99 a month. I’d buy that in a fucking heartbeat of we had an equivalent.

  21. ambiance6462

i’ll always say this but being able to watch your local team home games with an antenna seems like, a human right or something.

  22. ohmygodbeats7

I’m so glad I got rid of Comcast a few years ago. Don’t miss their bullshit at all.

Ziply fiber internet and online streams for me. Escape from these assholes!

  23. JarenAnd

It still reflects the middle teir and 3rd tier on website. Do you live in Portland? I noticed you have to input that for channels available. Very curious as I have a Comcast tech coming Tom due to steaming app not working. If they pulled this I’m pulling the plug out of principle and just going to dreadful fubo.

  24. Guys, I’m starting to think Comcast is greedy and exploitative.

Your neighbors across the street may be paying a completely different rate than you for the same package/tier, vs the old couple two houses down, etc etc. It’s all about negotiating skills, patience and persistence for what amounts to a utility, which is kind of fucked since those who can least afford it get rolled. They also act like a monopoly in areas without competition, and charge way more than a location only a few miles away with fiber service. And, they’re one of the biggest reasons a la carte cable isn’t a thing. Thanks for coming to my Ted talk 😅

  25. Bud_Light_Official

YouTube TV doesn’t have root sports at all.

Somehow they have created a system where the local team I actually care about is the hardest team for me to watch. Its insanity.

  26. Bedouinp

Amazon fire stick 4k max is $60. Jailbreak it and add Sports Fire app

  27. Jollyhat

This is a GREAT way to temper my enthusiasm for the new Blazers. I hate Chris McGowan. But it seems like Dewayne Hankin is just as bad.

  28. JohnGreek

    🏴‍☠️🏴‍☠️🏴‍☠️

  29. Brasi91Luca

My question is why did root even want the blazers? They’re a Seattle company who don’t even prioritize the blazers.

  30. BoneApple_T

ARRRRRGG…Set Sail like many of us years ago, matey

  31. PatrickVieira

Hey blazers organization. Stream your own games please. You get all the ad money directly!!!! What is the problem?!?

  32. Rickii_fox

This is such bs. I dropped Fubo like an idiot. Comcast burns me again.

  33. Pizzadontdie

Right as I saw this I got the same fuckin email.

  34. Quickzoom

“We’ve saving you $ so we can charge you more”

  35. PDXbarb84

So happy I cut those greedy shitstains. The WORST company.

  36. CommonSensePDX

Can NBA just do what MLS did already? For a paltry sum, I’ve literally NEVER had to worry about how to watch a game. From any device.

  37. hymengrinder

More evidence that ownership is only money driven. Roots sports plus has been trash and an absolute downgrade from CSN the past few years & now this. Don’t tell me its not ownership when franchises like the Suns are showing what can be done when you care.

We’re canceling our cable and getting league pass to watch the Bucks

  38. Crimdal

Nothing new. Pay extra to watch 50% commercials and 50% of a game. How is cable tv still a thing.
