JJJ showing the value of older prospects. We cooking now fr fr
Excellent thread from Brady. And a really nice thing about having Jimmy as your best player? Young ones can see and learn what he does while knowing they have the ability to do it if they work as hard as he does. It’s not KG. Steph, LeBron superhuman skills, it’s a guy who wants to win and works really hard. Seeing JJJ and the amount of work and practice he’s put into his game makes me glad he didn’t go in a whale trade.
He was so much fun to watch. Who knows how what he does will translate to regular season games or post season games but it’s so obvious he has it down between the ears.
He just seems to grasp everything going down on the court. It’s so obvious and cliche at this point but you see so much Jimmy in his game.
JJJ already looks calm, collected out there. Between him, and how solid Highsmith looked, I wouldn’t be opposed to upgrading the PG or PF position by trading Martin and a FRP (using Lowry and/or Duncan to make the salary match if needed), problem is I don’t know what player/team would even be a potential trade partner.
He looked like a year-3 guy out there. Knew how to get to his spots, knew how to get into the paint and kick out, got rebounds. Also looked like the best ball handler out of all the new guys.
I get he’s a rookie and those guys rarely help raise the ceiling of contenders but his skill set is so perfect for what the bench needs.
Last year no one off the bench could create a shot and strus ended up doing way more of that than he should have. Now we will likely have Caleb, JJJ, TB, and Lowry/J-Rich, plus Duncan running around.
I think JJJs secondary playmaking will be huge for that group. None of the wings had that ability last year other than Jimmy.
