Is Paul Reed any potential for our starting lineup at PF? I’ve been watching how Maxey and Paul bounce off each other in the preseason and think they’re a lethal duo if we want an early spark.
This clip shows it well:

Maxey and Reed are very mobile and have great connection around picks and if they attack every fastbreak like in the clip and mix in pocket shooters like Green, Oubre, Furk etc these run and guns can be super lethal. I can see us starting out with Tyrese, Harden, Tobi, Reed and Embiid with Harden and Tobi on the wings for a slow down play or catch and shoot. We have backup centers in excess that makes it reasonable to trial out Reed at PF (imo) to make room for Bamba or Trezz during a game to see what lineups are working.
It’s obviously just a hypothetical as it makes much more sense to have players suit their position like PJ Tucker at the SF but I’m just happy to finally have a bit of real bench depth to work with and have liked what I’ve seen from Paul, he seems to get much better every year and I’d love to see more opportunity for him.

Reed is extremely overrated on this sub. He’s a good energy player with potential to be a good reserve, but I don’t see much else there. I love the guy but the expectations around here are unrealistic imo. Would LOVE to be wrong though
After seeing Mo, i think we will need Paul at backup center
No, Reed isn’t gonna start, some of yall really are delusional about young players.
I don’t know how you can watch Reed and think he’s a viable starting option. He looks overmatched in the preseason vs mostly backups. And that’s with him at the 5, let alone him starting at the 4.
you can see how much worse Reed’s offensive production is without a guy feeding him easy buckets just watching him so far these two preaseason games. he has 17 points on 15 shots, and hasn’t hit a three in 46 minutes. the energy and hustle on defense/boards is great and sorely needed but if he’s starting at the 4 he’s absolutely one of the two or three worst offensive players at the position in the league
