[StatMuse] Bilal Coulibaly tonight: 12 PTS, 5 REB, 4 STL, 2 BLK, 5-9 FG, 2-3 3P. A little bit of everything.

  1. I’m of two minds here. With 2 preseason starts, and every time he’s on the floor you want more, I can see them giving him the starting job. Especially if Ted realizes Bilal as the starter will get butts in the seats as a promising rookie with crazy athletic ability and a sky high ceiling.

But Deni has experience. And they looked lost to start the Hornets game. But Deni hasn’t played a single minute. But it makes you wonder if they’re letting Bilal possibly win the job. Buuuut coach Unseld Jr already said he has his starters for opening night if the roster is healthy, in all likelihood.

Not that it truly matters who starts in a rebuilding year, but I think Deni’s gonna start. Bilal is fun to watch and I’d love looking forward to him starting against the best competition on earth, but if Deni is coming off the bench to a rookie, might as well deal him now.

I really really really hope Deni starts next Wednesday in New York.

  2. Okay, let me not fill up the Bilal thread with talk of other players. He’s impressing me so far. He’s picked up a couple ticky-tack fouls but he’s honestly pretty good with deflecting balls and reaching, and he’s not picking up fouls most of the time! Once he gets beat he doesn’t compound it by swiping, he gets his hands up and gets vertical.

Also that stuff Chris and Drew just can’t capture. I can’t either. He just has a calmness to his game. Like he’s not even sweating. Like he’s not pressed or scared or nervous or anxious or worried.

When he went to finish after getting that steal, I thought it was gonna end bad, but he finished over the defender. And that block. THAT BLOCK was ridiculous.

If anybody has the video of that block from the above-the-basket angle, you can see Bilal block it and then the offensive player like literally dies inside in mid air….LOLOLOL

He’s going to be a media darling. Stat stuffer, good kid and will always be in the convo this year because of Wemby. I wouldn’t be surprised if he’s on the all-rookie team with enough minutes

For those who wants to compare him to Deni, all I got to say is you guys are so lucky to have BOTH of them. They are gonna be a hound on defense. If one subs out, another hound comes next. That is exciting to see.
