You do realize that Harden being on an expiring contract is just as valuable as him as a player with the new CBA… wherever Harden goes if it doesn't work out the team who has him gains over 35.5 million in cap room next summer…so the clippers r trying to have their cake and to eat it too….they want to gain the talent of Harden and if becomes clear they can't resign harden they would gain significant salary cap space for next year and become one of the top players for a top free agent with the extra cap space they have from Harden….so I don't just give a contract up like that…harden has less leverage now than he's had in his past situations….if he does the same thing he did in his past situations he won't sniff the max contract for the rest of his career so the clippers and him have to play ball …I'm sure Nick nurse has a plan without harden in it
i think clippers know they could get harden next off season anyway when he's a free agent. next season is when their new arena opens.
