New Starting Lineup Shines In Detroit Pistons Third Preseason Game Against OKC Thunder

Monty Williams debuted a new starting lineup in the Detroit Pistons third preseason game and it looked like their best lineup of the preseason. Should this be their starting lineup when the regular season starts or should their be some minor tweaks at the starting four position?

  1. That is the same defense team I ran for my 2k24. Hayes does bring better defense. Our 4 do got shoot 3 and make it.

  2. I’d love for the Pistons to be great. And they’re trending in the right direction (somewhat) with Cade getting healthy and Duren getting more experience. Ausar looks like a stud. He’ll be a true Swiss Army knife who can do a little bit of everything, including locking up an opponent’s best offensive player…he may struggle with the shot early but it’ll come in due time. But there are still several things that bother me about this franchise. I loved the Monty hiring, but there’s absolutely no reason Jaden Ivey should be coming off the bench. He actually has talent unlike Killian Hayes, who is a bum. He always was and always will be. So what if Ivey’s defense needs some work? He’s a sophomore. At the very least you know you’re getting 17-20 ppg, 4-5 assists and some explosive athleticism with an ability to stretch the floor. If he isn’t starting by opening night I’m gonna have a real problem—which brings me to my next issue with this team from an organizational standpoint. Can fans just accept that Isiah Stewart is not a very good basketball player? It’s obvious that Troy Weaver has way too much pride and isn’t willing to cut his losses when he makes a mistake. Considering where they drafted Stewart (15th), he has not been good. Instead of letting him play out the final year of his rookie contract, effectively making this season his “prove it” year, you extend him for 65 million in spite of the fact that there isn’t a single measurable statistic that he performs well in. I just can’t help but question what this team is really trying to accomplish. Is being a try hard who “hustles” more important than actually being a good basketball player? Oh and by the way he’s shooting 3/17 from beyond the arc so far this preseason, not to mention his mechanics don’t look at all improved. So much for working on that 3 point stroke this offseason. For every step forward this team takes it manages to take one or two backwards. I hope I’m wrong, but it appears we’re gonna be stuck in NBA purgatory for the foreseeable future.

  3. Please trade Ivey now. I want to see him on a team that's going to put him in position to succeed. Trade him while his value is high because Monty is pushing a narrative that he's a spark plug scorer off the bench. He's not a bench player. Hayes played like trash last year and is starting. He's limiting Ivey's talent. He's playing the good soldier right now but eventually it's going to take a toll on him. Based on the interviews I've seen Monty doesn't even talk about Ivey and doesn't seem. He pines for everyone else but not him. I've never seen a guy play so well in his rookie season then get benched for no reason at all. If it's about defense then Bojan should not start either. Maybe overreacting.
