[Shams] The Minnesota Timberwolves are waiving wing shooter Matt Ryan and signing Daishen Nix to a two-way NBA contract, per sources. Nix averaged 6 points and 3.3 assists in preseason. Ryan scored 18 points on 6 3‘s over final 2 games.

Hopefully hes signed back on a 2 way. His shooting provides solid value that would be nice to have if ever needed in an emergency

I didn’t watch the preseason outside of the 1st quarters. Did Nix look ok on the floor?

Not gonna lie I will miss Matt Ryan. I loved his energy on the bench and I think he was the Gobert whisperer

Nix had a great game against the Israeli team, hit 3’s, dished the ball and got 10 assists. Has more potential and skills than Ryan, even though I do like Ryan’s shooting. Just not sure he has enough other nba skills

Ryan is 26. Nix is 21. Pretty clear play on potential and to see if we can develop a younger guy, which is exactly what these two-way contracts are meant for. Obviously liked the shooting of Ryan but if the team stays healthy and plays like they should, he wasn’t going to see the court anyway

Matt Ryan blows, wish him the best but he has no game. Nix at least has some handle, is a big body and can score in more than one way. Hopefully he never touches the court this year

    Called it!

Would rather spend that 3rd two-way on a developmental young guy at a position of need than a mid-20s “shooter” who’s maxed out his potential.

Feels like Ryan’s 3pt shooting has always been more theoretical than proven but (without looking) maybe the numbers say he was. Never felt like he shot well when he did get playing time.
