[Lowe] I’m hearing Patrick Williams wants big, big numbers for his next contract… like, starts with a 2 and isn’t $20M.

> I understand that teams in these contracts are paying for future production, not past production. If I’m going to give you like $100M, I’d like to have some past production. Patrick Williams has done some stuff, but like that’s just… if that’s the number, if that ends up being true and the Vassell deal ends up being the comp that his agents go to, that’s a lot of cheese.

Starting about 32 minutes into [The Lowe Post](https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/the-lowe-post/id986595124?i=1000632024409).

That’s a lot of money for someone who might be Marvin Williams Jr. Jr.

  2. BobLobLaw_Law2

I loved Pat-Will coming out of the draft but dude just doesn’t seem to have any semblance of “Dog” in him.

  3. The Wizards have a new FO and I doubt anyone else is that stupid

  4. Kyler1313

Pat Williams and I are more alike than I thought…

  5. KneelBeforeCube

I love Pat, but anything north of 100/4 would be madness.

  6. JonTheHobo

What is his best accomplishment/game? How is he justifying that

  7. FERFreak731

2 million a year it is. I’m shocked he wants the minimum

  8. According-Shower-842

I mean hes pretty good but IDK about $200M/year good, feel free to enlighten me if I’m wrong tho

  9. junkit33

Totally depends on how he looks this year. Absolutely nobody is giving him $100M+ for a 4th straight 10/5-ish season.

To get paid for potential you have to actually display you’re making steps towards that potential.

  10. RonsDarlings

He better fucking win MVP this year then

  11. McWhorter44

Imagine paying Pat Williams 70 million more dollars than Devin Vassell

  12. coacoanutbenjamn

Dudes gonna hit restricted free agency and be super disappointed

  13. jumboponcho

Lol @ people disliking players for wanting a bag, if he doesn’t deserve it the market will reflect that

  14. RVAIsTheGreatest

Well, he’ll end up being the next PJ Washington then. That’s no biggie. The Bulls will easily call that bluff.

These guys are licking their chops with the new media deal coming but there will be rude awakenings ahead.

I do agree with others that PWill has some legit upside, although I don’t think it’s quite All Star upside. I don’t see that ever happening. He hasn’t shown enough to be projected to that level the way Vassell has.

  15. trent1313

Giving him 20 mil + would be moronic and continue to set the bulls back years, so it’ll probably happen

  16. uhhhhmmmm

    P will pros and cons

    Pros:

    Has a high 3% pt

Can get a decent midrange shot up pretty much whenever he wants

    Is incredibly athletic

    Seems like a good dude

Good at both individual and help defense

You can make an argument he has more potential while not being the 4th option and while not being on a garbage franchise like the bulls

    Cons:

His 3 point shot is slow

His handle/drive/finishing around the rim isn’t very good

    Doesn’t draw free throws

Very disappointing rebounder for his size and athleticism

Does not appear to have that dog in him

I could see both parties agreeing to something like 5 yrs, $100M ($20M/yr). He hasn’t earned more than that, IMO.

  18. tomhalejr

Unless he qualifies under the Rose rule, $200M/5 guaranteed is not possible, at a 25% of cap contract, for a 4-7 year player.

  19. paatreek

HAHA. Me too Pat. He deserves 4 years 40 million for what he has accomplished, which is absolutely nothing. Unless he actually produces and is consistent this year he can forget it. Didn’t think he was this delusional.

This is so fucking funny, I guess this is our start to the play in aspirations we have for the season.

  20. Dimaaaa

Many players have gotten completely delusional about their actual worth. Just because there is a possibility doesn’t mean they have automatically earned it. Of course everyone is trying to make the max out of their situation but come on…

  21. StressedByManyBooks

What a deal! 2m is great value for a player of his caliber

  22. RowBoatCop36

I’m a Paw Stan but that contract ain’t happening.

  23. Snoo-1474

Man sometimes I wish I had this much ego 😂

  24. SocialJusticeGSW

Some where a fantasy player talks himself into drafting this guy right now.

  25. LeAnthonyJavis

Surely he doesn’t have the audacity to ask for $200 million

  26. Jabarles

What an annoyingly vague way to phrase the number by Lowe lol.

  27. Duhawk96

He better literally turn into prime Kawhi before asking for that

  28. nickwaynek

He’s done nothing to prove he’s worth more than WCJ (ironic) adjusted for current market and maybe he’s worth 17m/year max. He’s not even the 4th best player on his team…

  29. Regex00

Every player should walk in asking for the max. You won’t get it, but it’s important to anchor higher than lower in negotiations.

  30. notthefuckingscones

and yet if you told me the bulls front office was considering 200M i wouldn’t be even slightly surprised.

He’s okay, shooting splits are nice, maybe a 4th or 5th option on another team… but averaging 10,4,1,1,1 is not the business. If he doubled those averages, or even approached 15&8 with some stocks that would be something.

I would trade almost every other player on their team.

  31. Wholesale_Grapefruit

It’s worth noting he’s from Charlotte and that city has a terrible track record.
