I’ve been googling to see if the Pelicans officially extended their lease past this season? I can’t find anything. I’ve been getting worried about the team’s long term future here. I hope I’m wrong.
This is the latest I’ve seen: https://www.wwltv.com/article/sports/nba/pelicans/pelicans-stadium-renovations-new-orleans-nba-basketball-sports-local-news/289-7afd0d76-5c6a-4870-9bb2-5939a26add42

The team is on record as stating they intend to extend after the June 30 date. They’re not going anywhere.
They haven’t but the team isn’t going anywhere as long as Gayle is around.
The issue is that they and the city/state need to work towards building a new arena in the near future before Gayle is no longer around. If they don’t have a new arena (or at least haven’t broken ground on one) by then, it becomes incredibly harder to convince the next owner to stay in town.
They’re probably waiting for the superdome renovations to officially end before they have those discussions though. They’ll still sign a new lease with the state in the immediacy.
