Just to lend some perspective, the Timberwolves had their worst shooting game in literally 5 years last night, and they still only lost by 3, on the road, to a good team.

There was a lot to be concerned about, namely the ball movement, transition (on both ends), and dismal shooting.

Better ball movement is gonna fix a lot. Ant and KAT won’t be holding the ball and forcing that many bad shots every night. More movement and made shots means less opportunities for opponent defensive rebounds and opponent transition shooting.

I liked what I saw in terms of rebounding, defensive effort (#3 defense in the league after game 1 btw), and overall intensity. This is not a year for moral victories, but it’s game one on an historically bad shooting night, and the Raptors are always a tough opponent with size and good defense.

It looks like the good defense is going to carry over from last season which is great, but the bad offense also carried over. Hopefully the ball movement from preseason comes back otherwise I can see Jmac getting into the rotation to help with that.

I think Ant needs to bring the ball up less and let Conley, Milton, and Anderson do it more to at least get the ball moving to start things. Once the ball gets into Ants hands he dribbles the air out of the ball, which isn’t always a bad thing but in a game like last night it was.

The Raptors are not a good team. They’ll be fighting for a play in spot in a weak East this year.

It’s just one game. If we brick everything for the first couple of weeks then we can start getting frustrated.

I think the raptors are pretty good. Siakam, Barnes and OG are solid, athletic, big forward trio. I knew we were in for a game the very first possession when they bricked 20 3 pointers and got the offensive rebound only to drill a 3.

Like that’s how it’s gonna bounce today?

And yet, they never needed to lose at all.

    Fancy that
