This is the lineup. DH and JJ together will give us the best chance.
Is this the "Dan Quinn Hawks"? We've been teased that for a while now and let's hope we see more of what we saw tonight.
We didn’t really put a bad ball movement lineup on the court the whole game. Every lineup had at least 3 above average ball movers. I like this change a lot. Makes offense easier.
Also Brad i since Clints knee is bothering him. Or playing through some sort of injury. Doesn't have the usual lift and not as active.
So if you listened to Quinn after the Knicks loss. He specificly talked about the Defense and the effort or multiple efforts his team needed to make on Defense that just didnt happen shots falling or not.
Fast forward to tonight. From the Tip off the Hawks were on a string on Defense and very very handsy. 15 steals that led to 25 fast break pts. The Hawks only scored 102 set points. They literally won the game by the TO Fastbreak margin. The Defense tonight is what allowed them to Dominate. Did they shoot better yes. But the activity on Defense is what jump started everything.
This is why Quinn keep saying Im not worried about the Offense it will come. Its the Defense that seperates you from other good teams.
As much as we try. You can't put Quinn in a box he isn't listening to anyone who says he is stuck to certain line-ups with the players on this Hawks team. At the begining, during or at the end of a game Quinn is tinkering with match-ups and line-ups. He could care less if any talking head says these two guys can't play together or start Quinn is breaking all trends and is very much so coloring outside the lines.
This is also the reason when people ask what is the ceiling of this Hawks team? I have no clue. Because Quinn isn't being traditional with this team at all. He's pushing all kinds of buttons and adding new variables many hadn't considered. When they say some Coaches alone are good for and additional 8-10 wins on top of what a team would normally win this is what they mean.
Thats enough of a variable to take a 30 win team to 40 wins on the yr… A 45 win team to 55 or 60 wins.
So yea I'm just enjoying the ride.
Capela ran the split cut actions pretty well.
Wish they would show up to play like this every night
Great game, that's a team that can defeat anyone with
Starting a 6'10" center and a 6'7" pf was never a good idea. Heigtt plus energy matters.
The key to the Hawks being a Top 4 team, and I mean in no particular order is Trae and Dejounte being more efficient by making good passes and letting their OF come naturally, Trae in particularly can easily get a Dozen assist a game if he makes it a priority, 20 plus point will come to him naturally, the Hawks X factor are their forwards position, the best group of forwards in the NBA IMO, OO and Cappella serve as one unique CENTER, after 20 games the Hawks will realize every thing I've written above.
