The Utah are struggling defensive, but it is not time for concern yet

The Utah Jazz rank 29th in the NBA defensively and in each of the various defensive categories are struggling as well. However, that is to be expected after playing 4 of the best teams in the NBA. The next 6 games are against 5 teams ranked in the bottom 10 offensively and it is a chance to rectify the defensive woes of the opening 4 games.

The playing groupings of the Jazz show a bunch of different numbers, but the big takeaway is the Utah Jazz are really struggling when Lauri Markkanen leaves the floor.

Late game watch takes us to Phoenix v. San Antonio and Orlando v. Los Angeles Lakers with a little extra Victor Wembanyama v. the Rockets

  1. I think walker is burnt out from the USA camp. It will probably help his future progression, but you can tell he's just a bit off with his energy which is messing with his timing

  2. Locke can you please give me the numbers on opponent fg% at the rim when tht is the rim protector. My guess is he's been the best on the team to this point off the eye test

  3. It's looked like structural/coaching issues in 3 games vs player issues (G1 – bad zone, G3 – bad double teams, G4 – got stuck in mismatches throughout 4Q (Sexton/Clarkson on Jokic, Walker on Murray, etc.)
