EP. 362 – Early Issues – Orlando Magic Podcast

The good news is the Magic are 2-2. The bad news is the offense has not been good and the blowout against Houston is skewing the Magic’s number a bit. We recap the LA back to back and discuss some of the Magic’s early issues.

  1. Totally agree! Their should’ve been much better play design, and more three point threats on the floor. I think we’ll be fine just give it another week for everyone to find their rhythm.

  2. I thought for sure Mose was gonna bring in the big guns (three point shooters) for that last Magic possession against the Lakers. Cole, Harris, Jingles, Jet and Okeke should've been on the court.

  3. One thing you left out, Franz has been horrendous defensively. The teams been bad as a whole but Franz is doing a really bad job. Cant stay in front of his man, fouling stupidly and is showing a lack of effort on that end.

  4. The players need to go watch some of their highlights from last year and remind themselves of what they can do because they must be in their own heads right now.

Hot take but maybe it makes more sense to send Fultz to the bench for Cole instead of Suggs for Gary, if you want another shooter to open up the floor. Fultz and Moe have weirdly good chemistry and would still allow Fultz to set up shots for Gary. You have better spacing with the bench unit so Fultz being out there wouldn't be as big a deal as it is with Paolo, Wendell, and Suggs.

Cole has picked up right where he left off last year (other than being oddly horrible at the line) and can shoot well enough to open up for floor like Gary would as a starter. And with how well Paolo, Franz, and Suggs pass Cole doesn't need to be a true point guard, even though his passing has improved as well.
