He was the definition of knowing he was cool so he didn’t need to be cool. First person I ever fist bumped

RIP Walt. super smooth player great guy. Me and my dad got to meet him at a game last year, he was signing some autos down on the first level. He spent a good while chatting with my dad about the McNichols days.

Walt was one of the kindest, most wholesome dudes. He’s gone way too soon.

Gonna miss this guy. He was a blast to chat with at the cigar lounge in Centennial when he used to work there.

So sad. Walt was such a humble superstar. I got to know him playing golf many times. Great player but even better man.
Rest in peace Walt! I had the honor of serving him a few times as a server/bartender. He and his family were always very nice. He lived a great life and carried that on beyond basketball.

Put this on stiffs but i will add it here too…
I met Walter Davis once in the early 90’s. I was around 19 and I had just gotten off work at a driving range. I was hitting a bucket of balls when he started hitting right beside me. I was thrilled as he was one of my favorite Nuggets ever. I struck up a conversation with him, mostly talking about his Phoenix days and his nephew Hubert.
He was very friendly and open and seemed genuine. He remains the only Nugget i’ve had a real conversation with and I walked away an even bigger fan.
