I think he could be a much better defender if he played with a higher IQ.
There was one play last night where he was late to rotate to on a 3pt shooter and then anticipated the shot so he jumped to contest and the defender just drove by him.
There’s some other plays where he gets caught looking at the ball and his player leaves him for a cut to the basket.
Being higher IQ on defense would go a long way. I look at Duncan, who’s not physically gifted on defense, but has gotten better because he’s defending smarter. I think Herro can make those same strides if he works on it.
BTW don’t think I’m hating; I’ve been a big supporter of Herro when everyone here was treating him like he was no longer part of the Heat.
